Hope there aren't any casualties. Why are cars still a thing in big cities? God, I can't wait till we get rid of them, hopefully in my lifetime.

It would take me over 2 hours to get to work in my city if I took public transit. It takes 30 minutes by car.

The victims are on the sidewalk, the van in news footage appears to be parked up on the sidewalk. Doesn't sound like someone running an intersection, but I'm not a traffic cop. Police also saying no motive yet.

Someone not paying attention -> over-swerves to avoid a pedestrian on the road -> sidewalk

Best to just wait for confirmation.

The guy was driving full speed down the sidewalk for a very long time, it was certainly no accident

Just for reference this is about five large blocks south of where people were hit. The bulk of the collision happened three blocks north of my building and the arrest happened two blocks south of my building.

I am going to assume that this was intentional based on that. This is a side street off Yonge.

Are you kidding? This happened in Canada - we don't believe in justice here. Either the police were mean to him during the arrest, or he had a bad childhood. Trudeau is preparing a big cheque for the guy right now.

I literally hurt my eyes from rolling them so hard at your post

Oh for fuck's sake. Trudeau's gonna give him a cheque, really? People died, get your crappy talk-radio political hot takes out of here. And if you were just kidding, guess what, now's not the time.

If this is not sarcasm, you may want to see a specialist for whatever is plaguing you.

Edit - nope it doesn't seem like it's sarcasm

lol what? When I can get to work faster, cheaper and more conveniently via TTC, GO, regional bus then I'll use them. Until then, why would I?

He's probably saying public transportation SHOULD be the better option in any major city. Which is correct. Everyone driving around in their own exhaust-spewing metal box is insane.

Yeah, back your words by making a prediction. What sentence do you think this guy will get? Or are you purposefully making a stupid prediction so that later you can cower back from it and say "It was just a stupid prediction, hyuk hyuk hyuk"

Yeah, I'm confused by the reporting because that looks far south of Yonge and Finch (I recognize the Best Buy), which probably does have a decent amount of pedestrian traffic. Ugh.

Given that stretch of road, it's a miracle only 8-10 people were hit

There was mention of a driver following the van honking their horn warning people. That hero must have saved a bunch of lives at least.

I'd like to be proven wrong in this instance, that's the thing. 500 year sentence would be great.

Instead on endlessly quoting the morons can we just quietly put them on ignore and silence their bullshit.
