Happy New Year!

Our first annual 52 Seasons. 1 Year. thread was a great success, so I think it will be a new tradition from now on! In 2020 I watched 147 different TV shows that spanned 175 seasons all together - probably a record for me. I have to say I feel like I went a little overboard, to the detriment of other entertainment opportunities, so in 2021 I think I'll try to aim a little lower and maybe keep it to just the essentials.

Here's the link to the 2021 thread. :)

What about you? How many shows did you watch in 2020?

Oh, and don't forget to vote in our TV Show of the Year and TV Show of the Decade threads!

~ Recent Highlights ~

The Flight Attendant

A flight attendant's life gets turned upside down after she wakes up in a hotel room with a dead man but with no memory of what happened.

Small Axe

Based on the real-life experiences of London's West Indian community between 1969 and 1982.

Warrior

A crime drama that takes place in the latter half of the 19th century during brutal gang wars in San Francisco's Chinatown, it follows martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm, a Chinese immigrant who arrives in the City of Lights under mysterious circumstances.

Jann's personal life is in shambles and she's convinced that the cure-all is to enlist a new manager to help rebrand her image. Jann is at the crossroads between who she was and who she wants to be. I don't really keep track of shows I watch (probably because I watch way too much) but maybe this year I should. so here we go! These are the shows I'm looking forward to in January 2021:

-Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (NBC) I just finished the first season a couple of days ago. I'm very much looking forward to the second.

-Mr. Mayor (NBC) I'm on the fence about this show but I'd mainly watch it for Ted Danson, let's be honest. Lol.

-Search Party (HBO Max) I just finished the second season a few weeks ago, so I'll definitely be behind since the fourth season is airing this month. But I typically binge watch this show, which is something I very rarely do because I have to know what's going to happen next.

-Superstore (NBC) I'm really sad this show is ending very soon, especially since it's been so good this season with how they've been handling the pandemic. But if a show goes out on a high, then all the better, right?

-Grown-ish (Freeform) I didn't realize this show was coming back so soon! While it is just the second half of season 3, I'll take it. Freeform needs to air this show all in one season and stop splitting it up!

-Black-ish (ABC) I'm hoping this current season will get better because the first few episodes were just not doing it for me anymore. It might just be a show that needs to end soon though, but we'll see.

-Mixed-ish (ABC) I'm actually on the fence on this one since I was very lukewarm with the first season. I might watch the second season out of habit but it better get better.

Looks like it will maybe be Cobra Kai and Dickinson for me this month. Maybe Zoey's Extrodionary Playlist, but I still need to watch the first season. Potentially the history of swear words as well.

Does Lupin look good?

I really hope it is. Arsene Lupin is such a classic character and Omar Sy is a huge talent.

Bridge & Tunnel has a pretty cool concept, but its going to be really tough to build up the characters in six 30 minutes episodes. Also going to give Resident Alien a shot since it seems like a good spot for Alan Tudyk

Joe Pera Talks With You(22): "Joe Pera Shows You Iron", "Joe Pera Takes You to Breakfast", "Joe Pera Takes You on a Fall Drive", "Joe Pera Shows You How to Dance", "Joe Pera Talks You Back to Sleep", "Joe Pera Reads You the Church Announcements", "Joe Pera Lights Up the Night With You", "Joe Pera Talks to You About the Rat Wars of Alberta, Canada (1950–Present Day)", "Joe Pera Answers Your Questions About Cold Weather Sports", "Joe Pera Talks With You About Beans", "Joe Pera Takes You on a Hike", "Joe Pera Waits With You", "Joe Pera Guides You Through the Dark", "Joe Pera Takes You to the Grocery Store", "Joe Pera Goes to Dave Wojcek's Bachelor Party with You", "Joe Pera Gives You Piano Lessons", "Joe Pera Watches Internet Videos With You", "Joe Pera Has a Surprise For You", "Joe Pera Helps You Write an Obituary", "Joe Pera Shows You How to Do Good Fashion", "Joe Pera Shows You How to Pack a Lunch", "Joe Pera Talks With You on the First Day of School".

That's 261 premieres to add to that prior 5 year gap which had 4,821. So the 2016-2020 total is 5,082. Now even if I fudged parts during all that I can be sure that I had over 5,000 watched modern premieres and an average of 1,000 per year.

Just finished the last season of Sabrina and even though I think it was okay (better than the last one) I have no words for what a terrible ending the show has. The last episode is ridiculously awful.

Maybe 30 Coins.
The Watch looks pretty awful from the latest trailer, even though I like Richard Dormer.
Wandavision will probably be fun.
I'm curious about The Sister miniseries.
Servant Season 2. S1 was nuts.

I'm currently watching The Expanse, Mr. Mercedes S3, and soon Hanna.

Currently watching The Good Lord Bird and have the last two episodes left. It's been a surprisingly great show overall, and Ethan Hawke and the kid are really good as the centerpieces. Very good tempo to the storyline too. The biggest drawback so far has to be the actor playing Frederick Douglass, not really buying him in that role as a smarmy but important douchebag.

Not a whole lot for me this month -

The final seasons of Vikings and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Season 3 of Cobra Kai and American Gods.

Very curious to know how Coyote turns out - it's been on my radar for a while. CBS All Access tho :/

Everyone is Doing Great is a bit of a One Tree Hill reunion so I might check it out.

Search Party for sure. Wandavision eventually (probably in a couple months when I resub to D+).

maybe Painting with John.

oh and Bonding.

Beyond excited for WandaVision and Cobra Kai. 30 Coins sounds super interesting, had no idea what it was till this thread. Thanks yet again, Ratsky, your TV threads remain one of the best things on this forum for me! :)

As someone who lives on the US/Mexico border I'm a sucker for any show based on that. So I'll keep an eye out for Coyote and see how it reviews and might sub to CBS All Access. The show I'm most looking forward to though is WandaVision.

Cobra Kai S3 and Better Call Saul's final season are must watches for me. Although not a 2021 release, I'll get around to catch Mandalorian S2 this year as well. Outside of these, I probably won't watch much traditional tv and watch some anime instead.

Thanks for the thread as always, RatskyWatsky , and happy new year! This is literally the only way I keep track of what's airing, you provide an invaluable resource.

Sunday, 3
The Great North - Fox - 8:30/7:30c
High hopes for this. No matter what happens, it can't be worse than Bless the Harts.

The Simpsons - Fox - 9/8c
Shrug.

Monday, 4
30 Coins - HBO - 9/8c
This looks bad, but I'll give it a shot.

Tuesday, 12
Prodigal Son - Fox - 9/8c
Enjoyed the first season. Hope they figure out how to get Michael Sheen more involved.

Wednesday, 13
The Conners - ABC - 9/8c
This has been consistently enjoyable.

Friday, 15
Disenchantment - Netflix
First season was uneven but got better as it went. Should be good.

Servant - Apple TV+
First season was solid, hoping for way more crazy in S2.

Wandavision - Disney+
Obligation, I guess. Looks weird in a try-hard way.

Monday, 18
9-1-1 - Fox - 8/7c
9-1-1: Lone Star - Fox - 9/8c
I AM HERE FOR ALL THE STUPID CRAZY.

Thursday, 21
(Gomorrah - HBO MAX)
Maybe someday.

Friday, 22
Painting with John - HBO - 11/10c
Is this another of those mockumentary shows?

Sunday, 24
Euphoria - HBO - 9/8c
The Rue episode was phenomenal so here's hoping Jules'll keep it going.

Monday, 25

Snowpiercer - TNT - 9/8c
Eh. Sean Bean time.

Wednesday, 27
Resident Alien - Syfy - 10/9c
I know I shouldn't get involved, because Syfy, but the trailer was a good time and also Alan Tudyk.

Sunday, 31
Axios - HBO - 6/5c
Always worth the watch.

And thanks to everyone with the Hulu recommendations last thread! I have gone through all of the FX on Hulu stuff so far (Devs and Mrs. America were phenomenal, A Teacher was solid), Normal People (those leads, 'nuff said!), The Great (they better never, ever, ever kill Peter), Solar Opposites (it's Rick and Morty), Animaniacs (it's still Animaniacs), some movies, and probably stuff I'm forgetting!

Wife and I just finished The Last Kingdom which is fucking amazing and we can't wait for the next season.

We also just finished The Mandalorian which was great especially this last season.

We are halfway through Season 1 of The Boyz and sort of on the fence about it.

Finished Season 2 of Succession. Show is really good. While it mainly works as a comedy for me with the amount of family fukkery, it did hit some really dramatic moments with some unexpected characters. Romulus has the best lines overall.

Cobra Kai is the one I'm most interested in, and just started.

Will check out:

Miss Scarlet & The Duke - Victorian detective stuff, sure.
Resident Alien - I'll give Tudyk the benefit of the doubt.
Walker

I'm near the end of Vikings, as it speeds along to its end. As King Harald said in the last ep I watched, talking about the various dead series stars, "Perhaps all the best ones have gone." It's been a good journey overall, though S1 and S2 were the best.

It's a sci-fi month too, finishing off Star Trek Discovery S3 and Mandalorian S2, then starting The Expanse.

Finished One Day at a Time Season 2, another enjoyable season.

Lydia might be the funniest character on the show to me.
