I thought with the name Pathfinder, it would be an Andromeda spin-off... 🤷

Unless it's actually a spin-off turned into battle-royale, lol.

So sick and tired of all the Battle Royale games... And I don't even play them.

Hate this shift.

Looking forward to buying it used if it's good, Ubisoft still has major issues I refuse to pay for their games until they show dramatic and effective change internally

Hopefully it's solid, hyperscape was alright from what I played but the action and build-up to it was very slow. Also didn't dig the visual style at all. Felt very hard to identify different areas of the map easily. Hoping they can learn from the lessons that were learned from hyperscapes failure

Another fucking Battle Royale, lol. What's wrong with Ubisoft?
Ubisoft is probably the most play it safe, trend chasing, and, predictable gaming publisher these past few years. Even EA and Activision do some interesting things or have cool stuff in the pipeline, like Dead Space remake, It Takes Two, Crash 4, Crash & Spyro remakes etc. Ubisoft does absolutely nothing for me anymore, and they won't even try to take a small risk of making a new Rayman game.

Ubisoft wants that easy money available in the growing Battle Royale Market. Besides, they would really prove world wrong, given their all Battle Royale Games failed big time.

Do Ubisoft have any easy money spinners except Siege which maybe is small fry compared to others.

Probably why they are so desperate to do something like this. They want that Fortnite, GTA, Ultimate Team, Legends etc recurring cash.

Not the smartest way to go about it but you never know what sticks. They do seem a bit lost on all fronts.

If this can be played without other players (so it's a purely co-op experience for your team of 4) dropping in then I'm all for it.

I dislike PvP for many reasons but the main reason being I'm anti-competitive. So I don't care if I win or lose in anyway. Never have, never will. The most fun for me is PvE with friends in co-op games like Borderlands, Diablo…etc where you're on the same team fighting against AI. I mean, my preferred playstyle is single player story based content (God of War, Elden Ring, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Zelda) but I love me some PvE co-op games too.

I've tried a bunch of PvP games in my life, I got into Halo a little as a teen but mostly just wanted to play Firefight once that came out with ODST or fun custom games in Halo 2, 3 and Reach. I rarely wanted to or felt like playing actual matchmaking. I've also tried a bunch of BR games, the only one that I had even a tiny bit of fun with was Firestorm in Battlefield - not sure why but that was fun for a few matches. But all the others I've tried have felt "sweaty" and all about winning. Which I guess Firestorm was too, but I won without even thinking about it being competitive when I played Firestorm. BR games and more PvP focused games like Overwatch, need PvE modes, permanently. I would much prefer to be sitting back and enjoying a game against "bots" rather than other people in PvP. I don't want to play against other players in anything, I have no competive bone in my body and would kindly let them win because they want to. I just want to have a good time, and mostly enjoy a good story but sometimes just team up with friends and slay some bots cooperatively.

After playing Hunt Showdown for the first time, I'm interested in playing more PvPvE games but I don't think Ubisoft is gonna try it bc they have something new to bring to the table lol

This is the third or fourth battle royal they have in development. They are neck deep in service games. Ubisoft is like Taco Bell. Mix and match ingredients to make new product but truly new ones are few and far between.

Both GR: Frontlines and Division: Heartland are supposed to be more like Tarkov than a BR, with the latter having a PVPVE and PVE mode.

Might as well call this Nope: The Nopening. It's like they conceived this with the opposite of my tastes in mind.

If some Ubisoft developers remain frustrated and confused by the company's NFT push, they're also not all sold on its countless swings to recreate the live-service success of Rainbow Six Siege. Despite colorful battle royale Hyper Scape bombing, the company's ongoing live-service shooters include not just Ghost Recon Frontline but also The Division Heartland, Xdefiant, and the recently reported project, Pathfinder. Described as a battle royale that pits players against AI-controlled enemies and one another, one source who corroborated its existence for Kotaku said they weren't sure it would ever even come out.

Gonna have to change that name I think. I wonder if the company behind Pathfinder TTRPG will say something? Could they?

Honestly it sounded kind of okay until the PvPvE part. If it was just the co-op vs a.i. that'd be kind of cool.

Man, why couldn't this be a AAA isometric game? 😂

I'd muuuuch rather play a big budget Paizo Pathfinder game than another Battle Royale game.

That's a way of calling it. It's juvenile, Fortnite inspired, which is good for the public they are looking for, but not for me.

I don't think it relates to the game success at all, it just doesn't intrigue me. At all.
Kids like it, kids are future, and yeah it wont guarantee success. They are trying to copy or reverse engineer something that's a success (fortnite).

I'm eager to learn more. I do really enjoy battle royale games so I don't have a problem with that. I think msot people do.

I also think there's a huge gap in the market for something which is basically 'Fortnite' but slightly more adult orientated and without building. I think that's also why Epic and Fortnite are testing no-build modes, ready to react to that game.

I expected that game would be rogue company for a while. I thought given Hi-Rez's previous interest in battle royale, rogue company was going to be a battle royale, or at least have a battle royale mode in the works.

Arena shooters seem to be failing to gain traction now. Halo Infinite seems to have had its interest die down very quickly. Splitgate died quickly, rogue company didn't take off, and I never hear anyone talking about games like Gears of War anymore. A lot of the youtube videos I see regarding Call of Duty have a negative outlook towards the future of modes like S&D too. I think it's a shame because I enjoy a lot of that stuff and honestly I think in the future games will need to offer more complete packages (e.g. arena modes but BR too).

I figure.

It's partly why i've tried all battle royales to various degrees and the only one that stuck with me was Hunt: Showdown. I don't argue about those game's qualities, though.

I myself always liked PUBG, ARMA, and DayZ. The Fortnite thingy is just too unrealistic for me.
