I was watching this video and wondered what is your favorite orchestra compilation of themes nominees? 2018 was my favorite, the variety and all great themes , could be even better if Return of the Obra Dinn was nominated. AC Odyssey over Obra Dinn wtf?

2020 was my favorite. The juxtaposition with Animal Crossing is so good and it has the best variety of music because of the games nominated.

Hearing the flutes from Xeno 3 and the flutes going off during the theme was really special to me.

I feel like the older ones were more distinct. Something about this year's and last's were super flat compared to others. None of the motifs really shine through, they're all compressed into this one kinda pounding rhythm. Like the Alan Wake 2 section of this year's didn't even sound like AW2 music. Compare that with something like 2018 with Lena Raine where she gets a full on solo. It's night and day.

2020 is the best especially with that transition of FF7 into Doom but 2022 is my favorite mainly because of the Xenoblade 3 section, the orchestral version of Carrying the Weight of Life was amazing.

If I had to rank them it'd be: 2020 > 2022 > 2023 > 2018 > 2019 > 2021 (Metroid Dread carried 2021)

Couldn't vote for this year solely because of the Mario Wonder segment. It was so short and I couldn't even tell which song they were playing…
