Rose and Kylo? Now this is the type of depravity I can get down with.
One of the best exchanges in the movie lolBaze & Chirrut show, please! They were the most interesting Rogue One members, hands down.
I think there's something to be said about the diversity of power fantasy now. For (male) children, mythological power fantasy is an important vector for popularity. In the 70's, SW really resonated because there weren't that quality of mythological power fantasies on big screen. But now we live in the golden age. Kids can pick the hero of their choice. The same goes for teens and adults.
Jedis are a form of superhero, and kind of the only superhero that exists in the SW universe. Focusing on soldiers and spies is cool, but the SW future needs superheroes to compete on a mass scale, imo.
I am just excited for more Star Wars.
I just plain love Star Wars. And no amount of bitter fanboys will change that excitement I feel for new films.
It has become a term used by guys who are mad when women characters are allowed to do something cool instead of a male character who "deserves" it.
RoloDear diary, today I finally reacted negatively to a Star Wars ship:
Any version of this interaction that doesn't end with *gutstab* "That was for my sister" is wrong and bad
Just remembered D&D are doing a Star Wars series and have decided to take up drinking
I've noticed Star Wars threads in Off Topic are slowly but surely becoming more positive and bearable.
Release order. Always. So I have the rare opportunity to introduce a 20-something to Star Wars. He's never seen any of the movies and we're gonna watch them all before IX. Really struggling to decide what order to view the movies in.

I think the prequels might be more important before IX now or else I'd really consider thatI did this a couple years ago and just did the OT and TFA and told them to watch the PT whenever they felt like it.

I had this happen with my boyfriend, who had only seen A New Hope (but he lied and said he's seen the originals) so we skipped to the prequels first so he could "see the new stuff" first and it totally ruined the Luke/Leia being twins twist. He was like "wow, I didn't know they were twins." So, yeah, release order. So I have the rare opportunity to introduce a 20-something to Star Wars. Lift their spirits before crushing them, then lift them once more. I can get behind it.Whenever I introduce newcomers to Star Wars (which has happened... er, twice; one time it was a girlfriend and the other time a fellow student) I go in this order:
ANH -> ESB -> ROTJ -> TPM -> AOTC -> ROTS -> ROGUE -> TFA -> TLJ.
(Solo wasn't out yet either time.)
It's a kinda strange order but I have my reasons. I don't like starting people off with the prequels because they aren't nearly as good. It might put them off. I watch those with them afterward and then let them know the next film chronologically is (...was) Rogue One and it ties into ANH quite well. Only after all that do I move on to the sequels.
Maybe there are better methods but anecdotally I can tell you that both people are absolutely hooked these days.

This is exactly what I did with my wife. Seemed to work well enough. Disney era is her favorite mainly due to modern sensibilities and female leads. Of the OT, RotJ was her favorite because she's a woman of great taste.I did this a couple years ago and just did the OT and TFA and told them to watch the PT whenever they felt like it.
I know complaining about the prequels is like beating a dead horse, but.....why is the cinematography so bland in them? There are iconic moments and scenes but the Disney era films just trounce them in terms of amazing shots.
I am going with this order next time someone asks me:
The Last Jedi > Revenge of the Sith > Caravan of Courage > Solo > Return of the Jedi > Attack of the Clones > The Battle for Endor > Rogue One > The Phantom Menace > The Force Awakens > The Empire Strikes Back > The Holiday Special > R2-D2: Beneath the Dome > A New Hope
Why would you ever want out of that obsessionMan, I really needed Endgame and GoT to break me out of my SW obsession.
Do you have any idea how many hours I've lost to Battlefront 2015
Not enough.Do you have any idea how many hours I've lost to Battlefront 2015

Clueless lack of self awareness that drives people to chime in on old threads
