I would guess that this has something to do with PlayStation stars. Don't want people getting easy platinums if there are any sort of rewards or points on the line. Not that I'm complaining but sheesh, took them long enough.

Finally! For someone like me who checks out the PS store every single time new games drop this shit was starting to get TERRIBLY ANNOYING. Many of these games were clogging up the new releases with some coming out week after week with endless sequels and reskins.

It's good that they're doing this but I wish the offending parties received penalties retroactively. Smobile, in particular, used to spam the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita theme/avatar sections so aggressively that they had to take similar action there in the past. These bad actors shouldn't be allowed to keep their derivative games up.

Ratalika Games in shambles.
Ratalaika are a legitimate tiny indie publisher who help many people get their games to console. They're good people afaik.

Were these sorts of games even profitable for the devs in the first place? Even with a selling price to convince customers to buy for an easy platinum, I'd imagine even the most basic game would cost thousands once you consider dev time, hardware costs, submission and cert costs, etc.
Without exaggeration, the targets of this rule would make on the most nominal change to a game before resubmitting it as a new game. Some went so far as to only change a letter in the game's name. There aren't really any submission or cert costs to speak of for indie games unless you fuck up horrendously and repeatedly, and the games are beyond basic, often stealing art from google searches or using public domain. Looking at the most basic games targeted by this, you could easily make a comparable game for less than $100 (minus the one time cost for dev kits and such).

It's funny that these games only started popping up when people complained that the store didn't show every new game that was released on the store and they added the newest releases category.

Thank goodness. Indie devs that actually try making games will have a better time after this

There is no benefit to these games with relation to the Playstation Stars program, it's probably the new games section being filled with shit like "Stroke The Hedgehog" and "Stroke The Snake" and "Stroke The Fish" and probably crap like the Breakthrough Gaming releasing a new game every week like "ZJ The Ball Challenge (Level 3)" and "ZJ The Ball Challenge (Level 5C)"

I bought like 10 of those jumping games like a year ago for the sole purpose of pissing my friend off who takes trophies way too serious.

I wish every platform would go after garbage shovelware regardless if you earn easy trophy/achievements or not. Navigating new software on the slow laggy ass eshop is just made even worse with the amount of garbage ass penny games. Either remove them for force them out of the spotlight.

Why approve them in the first place and confirm trophies etc? Anyways, happy to see them go. Trophy hunters will go on a shopping spree in the next few days before they get delisted.
