Obviously he's been associated with some controversy in the past. Generally speaking, a lot of people in the press and enthusiast gamers don't really like him for various reasons:
Deflecting issues. Blaming others. (Aliens Colonial Marines / SEGA)
Lying.
Go after members of the press (Jim Sterling) - also calling him fat
Telling journalists "to do their jobs"
Accusations of Owning pornographic content of underage girls. Pitchford claiming his USB was filled with "barely legal" content. Hmkay....
Accusations of embezzlement and fraud.
and then there is this...
As the CEO of Gearbox, the developer of Borderlands 3, I'm curious to see if they don't want him being on the front for Borderlands 3. Like he was for the first two main entries. Borderlands is generally a well liked series, with a lot of fans on this forum. But also said fans really don't like this guy, and it's always just seems unfair when you have a lot of people working hard on this game under a CEO who just kind of ruins it for everyone. I'm not exactly sure what the benefit of having PItchford be the face of the franchise exactly does, but it seems -at least in certain circles- it provides no benefit, but only harm.
