What do the spines look like? Please MS… please update the spine. The front is okay, the spine is the issue……..
A depressing gun metal gray with the game title on it. The gray combined with the green of the box itself clashes horribly, definitely the worst box of any console lineup that I've ever owned
Can't be worse than the PS4 Greatest Hits packaging. The red case clashing with the blue banner clashing with the red banner causes me legit physical pain.A depressing gun metal gray with the game title on it. Do the game titles at least have their own unique font? If so, I'd take it over the Switch's which are all uniform right down to the font on the spine.A depressing gun metal gray with the game title on it. Because the series S has no disc drive… mentioning S would only lead to more confusionShit makes no sense. Why not make mention of what will arguably be their most popular console, the Xbox Series S? And frankly those that purchased a Series S will likely need the most help identifying which games work on it.
Like, why not put "Series S|X" instead of "Series X"? How strange. Their box art has really sucked this generation.

You wanna think over this one for a second before you realize why it doesn't say Series S?Shit makes no sense. I think it's slightly less bad but because ALL of the cases are this way instead of just certain reprints, it's worse as a whole imo. Can't be worse than the PS4 Greatest Hits packaging. The red case clashing with the blue banner clashing with the red banner causes me legit physical pain.
Yeah they do. I'm actually not a fan of the Switch case either, tbh. I think an individual case is good, the red is striking and bold at first. But I have about 100 games, so on my shelf it's just a red mass and it's pretty obnoxious. Takes as much space as my PS4 collection but the PS4's blue isn't as in your face which is better.Do the game titles at least have their own unique font? If so, I'd take it over the Switch's which are all uniform right down to the font on the spine.
Maybe it's just a case where they didn't have art to fit the full box art format and MS just let them use a black bar in that spot instead.
I don't even remember what the old boxart looked like because I haven't bought a physical Xbox game in years lol

Oh lol. This is what I get for drinking & postingYou wanna think over this one for a second before you realize why it doesn't say Series S?
Hey, at least you're starting the weekend off having fun. Enjoy.
Thing is, you're not all that wrong. When it's just a code in a physical-box, they do actually put the Series S on the banner (at least, they did in the old design).
While nice to look at, that Hellblade one seems incredibly unwieldy. Other than increasing the cost by making weird custom horizontal cases, it doesn't actually mention Series X anywhere on the cover. Plus the PEGI logo is the wrong size (way too small!). Unless it is the correct size, and we're going into giant PC boxes again for this generation! Fans can make some amazing single purpose design-work for covers, but they always seems to fall into the trap of 'smaller crisper font is better', where while it looks good in the home, looks terrible on a store shelf.Microsoft is still laughable with names and box art.
I seriously can't believe they are serious.
While definitely silly-looking, it's actually not redundant. The first SX is console compatibility, the second is whether there's a specific SX version, or the ability to Smart Delivery into an SX version. 'Eternal Cylinder' came out with just Xbox markings, works great on a Series X, but there's no specific SX version so the logo doesn't apply. The fact that they say Xbox Series X then have a Series X logo is so dumb. It's the only bad part of their boxes because then I'd say there's is the best along with switch. Simple and clean so the boxart has the most space. But having the series X logo is redundant.
They usually have the Xbox One data, so Series X ignores most of it.If the disc has actual game data inside that you can install, is there a way to tell if it's an Xbox One disc or a Series X disc? Or do Xbox discs no longer have the actual game data now?
So for cross-gen games, a Series X disc is usually a no-go for people who don't want to have the whole game again? But do they make it clear whether a disc has a One data or Series X data? They usually have the Xbox One data, so Series X ignores most of it.
For Series X exclusive titles, they do install the data from disc.
No way to know going by the packaging, no.So for cross-gen games, a Series X disc is usually a no-go for people who don't want to have the whole game again? But do they make it clear whether a disc has a One data or Series X data?
That... doesn't seem ideal. It's probably not a big deal for most people, but I personally would have appreciated it if they just go with different packaging entirely.
Allows for one SKU. Retail space is at a premium, and having two separate discs like Sony does could have been a non starter due to the Xbox marketshare.That... doesn't seem ideal. It's probably not a big deal for most people, but I personally would have appreciated it if they just go with different packaging entirely.
If it has any xbox one labeling means it will not have series x data on the disc for 99* of them. There might be the rare case the games are small enough to fit both.So for cross-gen games, a Series X disc is usually a no-go for people who don't want to have the whole game again? But do they make it clear whether a disc has a One data or Series X data?
I see. But does it mean all cross-gen discs are Xbox One discs, or do they usually have cross-gen games with no Xbox One labeling? If it has any xbox one labeling means it will not have series x data on the disc
