I have the platinum and you don't really need to grind as long as you save up pep for increase exp bonus + metal slime enemy (by shuffling party members). I was level 99 midway in the post game.
yeah grinding in DQXI is pretty easy thanks to metal slime trick. It did bother me a bit to get to lvl 70 to start metal slime but once you reach that it doesn't take long.

For anyone curious about the PS4 options, I just snapped a few things in my capture preview window (ignore red dots around edges).

How's the grind in the game? I really want to buy it
You can regularly use some challenge battles from side quests to level up pretty fast since sometimes it's possible to flee from these.
So you can use the big HP pool of these special enemies as much as needed.

There are also specific squares where you can encounter slime-like monsters that have lots of HP, especially at the beginning.

Grabbed the PS4 US version last night. Great to be playing again.

Seems nice a smooth so far and that's on a Pro downsampling from 4k to a 1080p screen. I have all settings on and Shadow's set to High. You can quite easily see the difference, especially if you look at the characters self shadows in the wardrobe section.

As my Internet isn't super fast, the full 4k textures hadn't finished downloading. So I was unable to set them to High. Looking forward to trying again in a bit when they are finished. Lower quality textures are quite apparent on characters sometimes when they are close to the camera. Hoping see an improvement with the setting on High.

I do hope tri-Ace see it in their hearts to release the avatars and theme to people who've purchased this. They did kind of promise it.

So how are the performances?

I'm wondering if i can run the game at 4K/60 Fps with this :

GTX 980ti
I7 4790K
16 GB ram

Is The Ps4 pro version native 4K or just checkerboard? I have a pro so i don't know if i should pick it on PC or Ps4

Also can the game run at 120 FPS if i play 1080p? And are the 4K textures really worth it?

The standard PS4 version is 40GB too? I already completed the PS3 version so I don't know if the standard PS4 version is a big upgrade compared to Pro.

Should run fine as for the textures they are not remade just upscaled with some waifu2x like filter and sharpened, i personally don't really like it that much it's similar to what SE did with Zodiac Age.
Here are some comparisons from the steam forums:

Honestly i have no clue why the pack is 67 GB with this result.

Your setup will be more than enough. I'm playing at 4k with the texture pack on a 970 + R5 2600, I don't think I've ever seen either above 50% usage. I'm not using reshade but there's plenty of room for it too.

And I could be wrong, but I think someone here said it's capped at 60fps.

yeah they're definitely not worth it... i almost don't see any difference....

But since it runs fine, i guess i'll go with the PC version, since we will probably get mods and so on!

thanks

Patch is coming apparently

https://steamcommunity.com/games/645730/announcements/detail/1680298966335787256

Google Translate:

Currently, we have confirmed symptoms related to memory (RAM) operation in this title.
We have begun to investigate this matter.

Also, we received your opinion that there is no "end game" command from the customer.
Currently it is a partial controller support, you can quit the Steam overlay menu game, or only close with the window close button, Alt + F4.
We will handle this and we will add the "End game" command to the title and pause menu.

We apologize for any inconvenience this customer may have.
Sorry to be frustrating, but please wait for a while until compliance.

We look forward to your continued support of "RESONANCE OF FATE ™ / END OF ETERNITY ™ 4K / HD EDITION".

Any tips for a beginner? I just started and did all the tutorials to actually understand the battle system.

Don't focus only one weapon type on a character. You can dual-wield. Don't skimp on weapon customization. Hexes placement is very important and can wield incredible rewards and benefits. Avoid using hero actions if you can't make it through a resonance line. You can choose turn order between characters. Don't use hero actions if you aren't sure you'll keep at least one through the end. Save on multiple slots, but know that you can get out of almost every situation with careful planning and movement.

Level and customize them equally. Leave no one behind

To add to this: Character level is the sum of Handgun + Machine gun + Grenades. Rotating weapon types between characters is a good habit, especially in the first parts when you don't have multiple machine guns. Because you start out with one machine gun and two hand guns it may seem very natural to keep your team that way, but try to switch them around every now and then. Not only will they level up more evenly - don't ignore grenades - but you may not always have your whole team available at the same time. Eventually when you get multiples of each weapon type and are strong enough to dual wield (machine guns) you will probably end up with a more or less fixed team in terms of roles.

I remember spending a lot on retries in later chapters. Like 6k per try? Kinda my fault for tackling 3 lvl 74 enemies.

There's a secret stash of money in your house if you search the cupboard. Don't take it if you don't need money. Just let it accumulate till the final chapter to get a much larger payout.

Also, I recall that Guild missions have to be done in their chapters and don't get brought forward to the next. This game has missables here and there, including unique drops from bosses or enemies.

I'm guessing the money exploit still in??

Chapter 6 or later required Combat Scope Betas cost 3000 gold, one glass shard, and one scrap of iron to make. The wandering merchant sells glass shards and iron scraps for 200 and 150 gold respectively. Combat Scope Betas sell for 4100. Profit is 750 per scope, multiplied by 999, is 749250. The best time to do this is chapter 6~7, before the merchant starts wandering she is always at the Waterless Bridge. In chapter 8 plus, she can be at Forsaken, the Waterless Bridge, or the Righteous Tower. Your best bet then is to get into an enemy counter, run away, and check the location to see if she is there. Time phase changes also change her position. Repeat as necessary.

Thank you both. I will put this info to good use tonight.

Anyone gotten the Aska Initialization failed and found a fix that hasn't been listed either in it's steam discussion forums or Star Ocean's? Tried everything I found so far and still failing to launch.

People are saying it's gone but I don't think anyone has given the details. Did they just adjust the prices of the items, or what you need to craft them, or what?
I believe they reduced the sale price from 4100 to 3000 (so you get back the crafting price, but you lose any money you spent on the materials).

It would be so cool to have a photo mode for all these cool acrobatic gun animations. I wish some with Cheat Engine skills could manage.

Sigh...

never in my years of playing video games have I seen an escort mission worse than this idol thing. Ever. What the fuck.

1. The idol moves on its own unless you park a person permanently in front of it, effectively losing that person for the ENTIRE dungeon (7 rooms).
2. The enemies target it almost exclusively.
3. There's no way to heal the fucking thing except losing, and them paying 50k. Which is money I do not have.
4 Going back to number 1, the idol constalty moves on its own and blocks your path, and because of how the camera works theres no actual way of telling WHERE it is at any given time and you kinda have to jump at random fucking times to try and avoid it.
5. YOU. CAN. NOT. FUCKING. HEAL. THIS. FUCKING. THING.

That idol mission almost drove me insane first time around, especially when it's all good for the first few phases and then some random attack destroys it.

Not looking forward to playing through it again.

The idol mission was pretty tough! I recall having to do it a few times because something would rush it and destroy it.

I managed to clear the escort on my first-ish try. I'm familiar with the game, but definitely not a veteran. I just tried to bumrush the enemies that would reach the statue first and then in order. I got to the boss room with maybe 20% statue health. I failed on the boss the first try, but beat it without having to pay to heal the 2nd try.

I bought this game back on the PS3 and while I enjoyed it, I found it incredibly frustrating at times and eventually stopped playing at the notorious statue escort mission which was going to lead to me having a premature stroke.

But something about this game has always stuck with me, so a 4k remaster was an immediate purchase.

I just hit the statue escort mission again...........

The game runs perfect on PC at 4k even on my 1060, fwiw.

Do you have to walk all the way back when you finish a dungeon or is there a way to leave right away (without using any sort of consumable stuff)?
