i can't be sure that this was the first one i played, but this is the first game i have vivid memories of playing (on my cousin's pc)
I was hooked by the time I was in kindergarten. I distinctly remember being bummed out when a friend didn't have video games and we had to play with toys instead.

i dont even remember what my true first game was, but one of my earliest memories are of super mario land on gameboy
On a PC no less. Don't ask me how or why but I can only remember playing it on PC in my mom's office (not her PC though).
It was the Master System version, that came installed with the console. I never had any other MS game, we just rented them. Anyway, I wasn't hooked by video games until I had a SNES some years later.

When I was 4 or 5. What a brutal, unforgiving starting game!
Treasure Island Dizzy, ZX Spectrum, if you don't recognise it.
Same. I never got past the second level until years and years later.
For me, and, I'm sure, many others, it was Combat for the Atari 2600.
