Outriders Review In Progress - GameSpot - 8Written Reviews
There are a lot of these moments where Outriders strikes a delicate balance between being serious and being light, developing its world and recognizing that it's dealing in some fairly absurd concepts. These moments likely won't land for everyone--it can feel a touch edgelord at times, although rarely so far--and the tone can pingpong between extremes, especially jumping off the main quest to explore side content.
Those swings are also where Outriders excels, if you meet it where it is, though. Its story is often funny but similarly intense; its combat requires you to take cover and to charge; its abilities make you phenomenally powerful but prone to overestimating yourself. If you can find the balance in Outriders, People Can Fly's RPG-shooter finds ways to combine well-worn video game ideas into something new and fun. Whether those new combinations will carry it all the way through its seemingly expansive runtime remains to be seen, but I'm excited to see what's still waiting in the wilds of Enoch--and to smash it with seismic earthquake magic.
Outriders Análisis del "shooter" cooperativo para PS5, PS4, Series X, Xbox One y PC - HobbyConsolas Juegos (Spanish) 8.5
A shooter with long RPG dyes, very fun and with an offensive inclination that we love. It only sins of being overly generic in design aspects. Fast-paced in both solo and co-op multiplayer, without battle passes or microtransactions.
Outriders Review - Not Just Another Destiny Clone - GamersHeroes 8
If it wasn't for the technical problems Outriders could well have taken the crown for the best release of the year thus far. While my single player adventure was nearly completely clear of any technical issues or bugs, multiplayer is a little rough around the edges. Several crashes, falling through the floor, getting booted back to the lobby. The connection issues are a huge problem at the moment but once these are ironed out, there's a real gem in Outriders.
You will struggle to find another third-person shooter that has innovated as much on the formula as Outriders, not since Gears of War took the genre to new heights. The combat is absolutely incredible, the classes ooze with potential and development, the world is gritty and engaging, and the ability to enjoy all of this alongside good friends just heightens the entire experience.
Review | Outriders - XboxEra 8.5
Outriders has some of the most enjoyable gameplay I can remember in quite some time. If you're reading or watching this a few months down the line then hopefully the issues with aiming sensitivity have been worked out, because once that is fixed this will be one of the better playing games, maybe ever. The story is ok, but the dialogue is horrendous. If you find it annoying just skip every cutscene and conversation you can and get back to that fabulously frenetic action as quickly as you can.
Review: Outriders (destructoid.com) 7/10
It's a lower bar to clear to be sure, but People Can Fly delivered what Bungie and other studios can't seem to do these days: a complete $60 game.
Outriders
is a flawed looter shooter that can fall into a rut with its core looting loop, but the gunplay is fun, and that's a decent-sized win. If you can grab two other people to recruit via Game Pass, it's a great way to spend some time.
Outriders Review: Space Magic Saves a Flat Sci-Fi Story | Digital Trends 7/10
Is Outriders a sophisticated action game with a compelling sci-fi story? No. Does it feel fun to freeze a spider with an ice turret and shatter it with a well-placed sniper shot? You bet. Sometimes, that's all one really wants from a shooter like this. It could use an offline mode for single-player sessions and a fair bit of maintenance, but it's a solid foundation for an action game that respects its players' time.

Outriders review: surprising looter with a refreshing foot in the past | Metro News
While all of its pieces are reminiscent of other games, taken as a whole this doesn't feel derivative. Instead, it's an appreciation of the genre. Outriders shouldn't work as well as it does, but it trades on surprise, an often scarce commodity. People Can Fly has crafted something increasingly rare in the modern gaming world: a new and exciting major IP with a bright future.

Outriders Review - Great Gameplay In There Somewhere (cogconnected.com)
What we have here are two stories told with mixed results. The grim, gorgeous sci-fi saga fell flat for me. I couldn't get invested in this last leg of the human race turning to tribalism and violence in the face of adversity. I'm pretty bored with 'special soldier saves the day' stories. But the loot cycle was a different matter. This tale of frustration, anticipation, determination, and joy was immediately compelling. I dug into the mechanical guts early and easily. The combat is varied, breathless, and brutal. The character progression is a decent mix of stats and skills, there's a ton of customization to mess around with, and the difficulty scaling is perfectly fluid. I can tolerate a lot of nonsense in exchange for a good gameplay loop. But if you're hoping for a package as good as the prize, you might be disappointed. So long as you're prepared to dig a little for that glittering pearl, there's a ton of fun to be had with Outriders.

Outriders review — You better run for cover (pcinvasion.com)
Still, I like Outriders overall. The areas and RPG mechanics are somewhat underwhelming, and it can get unbearably repetitive. The action is great though when you're not getting one-shotted, bored by the creature fights, or struggling to stay awake while chipping away at enormous enemy health pools. It may feel like too much of a throwback at times, but there's plenty to enjoy. I'd wait for the servers to stabilize before jumping in though.

Outriders Review - A Unique And Surprising Adventure (press-start.com.au)
Outriders combines immense variety, aggressively geared combat and fun abilities to offer a third person shooter like no other. It's filled to the brim quality content – bringing a stellar campaign that's constantly throwing new things at the player and a compelling well-designed post-game experience in Expeditions. Teething issues with online aside, Outriders is poised to be one of the biggest surprises of the year, and you should definitely give it a go.

Worthplaying | PC Review - 'Outriders'
I'm hooked. I love Outriders' shooting, skill, and loot mechanics and how they work together to form a highly addicting co-op shooter. While it has a lot of features that I'm not fond of, the core gameplay is solid enough to easily carry the rest of the experience. If you're into looter shooter or dungeon crawler games, Outriders will scratch that itch — if you can play it. With its current matchmaking and server issues, we cannot help but score it lower than we'd like. Whenever the technical issues are resolved, the experience could be as high as 8.3, making Outriders a co-op shooter that's well worth experiencing either alone or with friends.
Outriders Review | Xbox Series X|S Reviews (purexbox.com) 8/10
Outriders really has taken us completely by surprise. This is a game that gets off to a pretty bad start but, once the combat kicks off properly, quickly reveals itself to be one of the slickest and most addictive looter shooters we've played in a long while. Launch weekend has been a mess of server issues, for sure, but stick with what People Can Fly has dished up here and you'll find yourself handsomely rewarded. This one comes highly recommended.
Outriders Review - Chaos That Surprises In The Best Way - Game Informer 9/10
Outriders isn't revolutionary, and it's not trying to be. Outriders is a well-thought-out shooter with expertly tailored RPG twists. It's an enjoyable ride that is made infinitely better by playing with friends, but not inherently hurt by running solo either. This game takes the best parts from other looter-shooters and the best aspects of sci-fi RPGs and blends these elements into an experience that is worth diving into because of its high replayability, customizable play style, and fun story. I'm already strapping in for another run.
Outriders review | PC Gamer 6.3/10
There's something here for folks that go bananas for the most granular of class customization—all those incremental class boosts are probably a dream to my most min-maxing of friends. It'd be easier to get excited about that stuff if Outriders' basics were as good as what else is out there. Game Pass feels like the perfect home for a divisive game like this that rubs players the wrong or right way depending on what you're looking for. It's a shame that PC Game Pass subscribers aren't getting the same deal, but I think Outriders is a safe skip either way.
Outriders review – fountains of gore and hilarious carnage | Games | The Guardian 8/10
Not everyone is looking for a game like Outriders, and if wooden dialogue and sci-fi cliches – it's all commanders with eye patches and mad scientists – are not your thing, there's no shame in that. But if you're the type of player who reached a flow state in Doom Eternal, or speaks wistfully of Diablo, or perhaps remembers the rhythmic gunnery of Bizarre Creations' The Club, Outriders will speak to you.
Outriders review: A slick but unnecessary looting sim | VGC (videogameschronicle.com) 4/10
Outriders is its own greatest victim. There are some decent ideas in here – an absorbing cauldron of combat variables, some majestic geography, even a few guns worth holding onto – but they're dragged down and suffocated by a game that doesn't want to entertain you but hypnotise you with the prospect of another trinket.
Console Creatures - Recommended
Outriders may not excel at anything in particular but it does enough right to keep things interesting. The gunplay is good, the core loop of finding new gear is fun and exploring Enoch with friends (or solo) is a blast.
