Won't be surprised if they lend a hand to Santa Monica/Jetpack for God of War and with Uncharted as well

Ha, I remember watching a digital foundry video recently where they speculated this was the case, looks like they were right.

Love Nixxes ports.

Except for Deus Ex HR Director's Cut which for the life of me I cannot get to not be a massive stuttering mess.

But other than that I really like them.

Makes sense. Mostly bought for their PC expertise and ports. And Guerrilla and Nixxes are both Dutch.

Nixxes are really good and if they were gonna buy a port studio, Nixxes is one of the best in that space.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Creating the PC Version

Find out how Eidos-Montréal, Nixxes and AMD collaborated to create the PC version of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.DX12 Support for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is no...

The Deus Ex: Mankind Divided vid really showcases what comes at play and their role ^^.

Great work and I guess probably really helping the ICE Team at sony for most of their in-house proprietary engines.

Blessed Nixxes is going to make all those Sony games really sing on PC, looking forward to seeing what's next.

I'm very impressed with their back catalog. Their first game port was Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver to Dreamcast.

yeah they've been involved with Crystal Dynamics (and Eidos / Squeenix later on) for a long time. I believe some some of the development regarding the Crystal/Foundation engine (which powers the Deus Ex games and the new Tomb Raiders iirc) also happened at Nixxes.

That's great. They're one of the best port studios. I'm glad that the acquisition is already paying off for Sony.

The recent patch is amazing. The game looks utterly stunning at 4k/Ultra/120/DLSS on my 3080. Flawless. The image quality is jaw dropping. Such a turnaround from release, when it was a total mess.

Who added DLSS 2.x to the Rise/Shadow of the Tomb Raider ports? Those were originally done by Nixxes, but are they still the ones working on them?

Virtuos was the one that originally ported the game right?
This sure gives me confidence for the rumored MGS3 remake from them lol

Yeah that's a studio I never thought of when it comes to bigger companies buying shit. A port specialist like that was pretty smart, in hindsight. You can put them to work immediately and expect good work on time.

Already doing a better job than Ms at their own games. Halo infinite pc port was mediocre at best even with a 1 year delay.

I'm glad Playstation got these guys*, having better quality PC ports can only be a good thing for everyone.

Havn't been keeping up with it, is the Halo Infinite PC port really that bad? I should look for the DF video.

It's like 5/10 compare to something like gears 5. Broken v sync dynamic res that ties to v sync also. DF explains all of it. There is also a save file corruption bug. It is also not just the pc version that have issue, I switch over to my series x, it's doesn't feel right neither for what is supposed to be a 60fps game. HDTV test also commented on it DV HDR implementation isn't right.

I couldn't believe how much better Horizon ran after the latest DLSS patch.

Now I know why.

I also cringe to think how awful Square PC ports are going to be going forward now that they don't have Nixxes

Hopefully they can port the PC version of RPCS3 to the PS5.

Is Nixxes purely a support studio, or was there talk of potential original games from them down the track too?

Nixxes is an incredible studio when it comes to porting games to PC. As a PC gamer, I was excited when they got acquired by Sony because it meant they were super-duper-extra-serious about their PC ports.

If I remember correctly, the wording around their acquisition was they would help support PC ports and also build up the studio to make their own game in the future.

Nixxes stepping in for the recent patches explains the long gap between the 1.10 release with the message that the PC port is done because they have to ramp up development for Forbidden West and this massive 1.11 patch almost a year later. It's really cool to see.

Virtuos was the one that originally ported the game right?

The notion that Virtuous alone is responsible for the shoddy PC port of HZD is not entirely fair. Both Guerilla and Virtuous are listed in the credits for the PC version, with both studios providing production leads, technical directors and programming staff. If Guerilla oversaw the port then it's just as much on them as it is on Virtuous.
