What an absolute monster of a machine. Those are Wii/DS-level software sales numbers.

To see a Zelda game do that well brings a tear to the eye.

Smash Ultimate is only a little over 100K units away from outselling both Smash for Wii U & 3DS combined. Think it's managed that in the last month?

BOTW has legs for days!
The Switch has to be the console with the best attach rate of all time.
I still remember at the start in Japan BOTW had an attach rate grater than one lol

Not a new observation, sure, but Christ, Mario Kart's a monster.

BOTW sold more this quarter than Smash did! I wonder if the sequel announcement spurred some extra sales.

Am I crazy or did Pokemon's legs completely fall off? I thought it was already at 10 million...

Smash will probably get a big spike in Japan after Hero is out.

The Switch is going to have a 3D Mario, Zelda and Smash all over 20 million. What a beast!

Zelda was 12.77m last quarter so that's 840k isn't it?

Nothing on Tropical Freeze? My hope is that it can crawl to over 3 million so every DKC hits 3 million in a single release.

Zelda BOTW Switch+Wii U at 15 million copies. Holy hell.

Oh right, I forgot this didn't include Wii U numbers. That means that this generation's big Zelda title has officially outsold this generation's big Mario title.

Congratulations, Zelda team. It's the first time in 30 years; you've achieved the impossible.

I get it now.

Goddamn, BotW is like GTA5 lite in terms of sales persistence.

Remember how people were touting Skyward Sword as the ceiling? Fun times.
wait SS or TP as the ceiling?
hopefully, no way anyone who follows sales thought it would only do 3.(something) million on 2 consoles, even if it was 2 failure consoles. Beating SS shouldn't have been a question.

But yea, I'm still beyond shocked.

Is it because they announced BOTW2??
Trying to think of a reason I missed.

It's insane how many Nintendo franchises are over or just shy of 15m.

See Skyrim's sales? You can go there!

Crazy to see so many 10+ million sellers. Splatoon is getting up there too. I doubt anyone expected that series to reach 10 million. And Mario Kart is on its way to 20.

The real victory of the Switch era, in my opinion, is seeing pretty much every single franchise break its own record. Pokémon is the exception here, but they also started with a remake this time.

Splatoon's sales is absolutely bonkers. Almost 10m! Remember when people said it would do W101 numbers on the Wii U? It did more than 4m there and now the sequel is going to reach 10m.

I think you mean Twilight Princess. Otherwise, it'd be pretty weird to have a ceiling of ~3.4m with a big 8.8m pillar sticking through it.

Talk about ceilings is generally a bit silly because it assumes no major change in a series. To be fair though, Twilight Princess-level sales probably were a reasonable guess for the ceiling for that style of Zelda game, and if BotW had been an iterative sequel I don't think it would have sold anywhere near as well as it has.

also people will still think mario kart 9 for switch is possible, lol
After five years of playing it with my friends I want 9 to come, but shit man I can't justify it looking at these numbers.

it warms my heart to see Splatoon so high. It's like that franchise was the answer to people complaining that Nintendo never mad new Ips and here we are.
