I will accept literally any form of save backup at this point
This so bad. I need to send my Switch in (weak left speaker in portable mode) and I'm so nervous about my saves being deleted somehow.
We're due for an update soon. 4.1.0 came out in December, making this currently the longest gap between updates.
CLOUD SAVES
I swear to god Nintendo. This is the one reason keeping me off from my Switch.
I can't transfer my SMO data from my brother's Switch to my Switch (I played on my brother's at the time, because mine didn't work), unless I want to overwrite my own account and lose all my other save data (Zelda, for example) on my Switch.

I wonder if this means a firmware release at any moment now? They wouldn't update the app with 5.0 only features if the firmware wasn't around the corner.
I wonder when this will happen. Hopefully asap because I want new avatars, themes, folders, etc.

The fact that the app now syncs data when in sleep mode aludes that now Switch will remain connected when put in sleep mode WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY MAKING WAY FOR CLOUD SAVES
Even if they start Cloud saves they would likely tie everything to the main user-profile, so you would likely face the same problem.
Nintendo doesn't want people freely exchanging and swapping saves between profiles, those days are unfortunately over.
Party chat friend messages and cloud saves should be main priority
being an x.0.0 version makes it likely that there will be something addressed/added/whatever above stability etc.

People asking for cloud saving are deluding themselves a bit. This just like in psplus will be a feature in the paid online if you ask me.

It's going to be more than that. This is a .0.0 update, which means a significant jump than just the usual .0.1
What do you mean? If you transfer your account to your brother's Switch it will just create a duplicate user with separate saves
