ワイドケア for Nintendo Switch

スマートフォンからいつでも加入できるNintendo Switch向け定額制の修理保証サービス 「ワイドケア for Nintendo Switch」を開始致しました。

basically seems like Nintendo Apple Care

Fixes things like fall damage, water damage or "natural failures"

¥200 a month, or ¥2,000 annually

fixes problems up to six times a year or damages worth up to ¥100,000 a year.

They also gave a list of whats worth what

Joycons - ¥2200

Parts other than LCD Screen or CPU - ¥4950

LCD Unit - ¥8800

CPU - ¥13,200

no clue if this is going to make it to the US or Europe, but thought it was a good idea to let people know

I hate how natural failures aren't just covered by warrenty, went through multiple pairs of joycon.

Other then that seems like a decent care pack

So it sounds like you can buy a broken switch, join for 2000 and say it fell and broke while you have Nintendocare? What o_o

Nice for some folks, but I don't really need it.
Already done so many repairs on my switch.

Changed the Joy-Con sticks, replaced my rattling Fan and reapplied thermal past.
Also changed the Joy-Con led because they also broke.

Does this include shipping?
If we go by the Nintendo Store prices, prices more than double or triple if you don't live in Germany, depending on your country.

It's my sincere hope that this doesn't become an excuse to erode warranty services or the expectation that joycon shouldn't start to fail within a year.

I'm not optimistic about that though.

Cool service but I hope they don't expect people to pay for repair when it comes to Joycons drift

Liverpool, UK
I had drifting Joy Con about 2 years in to my Switch's life, which Nintendo UK replaced for free -- pretty trouble free experience, but I've been using the Switch as a YouTube screen in the car (for the baby on longer journeys) - and I seem to have eroded the plastic lock in the left joycon rail... something like this would be cool for stuff like that. I can see it's just wear and tear from removing it so much and possibly not holding the back button in properly..

Fixing joy-cons is worth ¥2200, yet here in Europe they charged me €30 to fix one.

Being deeply disappointed by the quality and longevity of the Switch's hardware, I find this very funny in a cynical sort of way.

So you mean if this was done in europe and i had a faulty joycon, it would preferable that i threw it into a bucket of water before sending it instead of just telling them it failed becuase its not well built and not my fault? lol

2 things I got from this:

Nintendo is really settling into the Switch being a long term brand(?)

Secondly, these services suck because it's basically like insurance or a subscription service. You don't really need it, until you need it.

Putting aside the sheer audacity of this cos the joycon shit, the annual price isn't too bad if you're susceptible to your stuff breaking.

I think Nintendo gives 2 year warranty on most EU and UK stuff but could be wrong.

So instead of fixing the Joycon issue at large, they have this. Alrighty.

Same. The fan and the joycon sticks are terrible quality wise. I mean I have never had a fan go out so fast, and so many, let alone a portable device fan that isn't even always on. I had a Pi fan on 24/7 for years that is fine even today. I thought it was going out but it had dust bunny stuck in it lol. I had to replace the fan in the same switch twice, and now mine and another friend's is making some noise. Also know another guy who also had his fan go out and bought an OLED switch because of it.
