I don't find these as cringe as others, but I also feel like I never see these be used much. I just see the originals

If I'm not mistaken, it was Naughty Dog who were the first to ever recreate these gifs with their in game models with the Antonio Banderas one.

I believe you are right! In fact I believe it was, and I could be wrong, they did that because specifically on the old site, people were making so many PS4 Antonio Banderas gifs and I believe it was eventually acknowledged by Sony itself in a tweet(?) and then ND made the Joel version of the gif.

Yep, I recall they made it for winning studio of the year (GTAV won GOTY) at the final Spikes Video Game Awards and it aired at the end of their brief acceptance video. That was the time when we were all going nuts with the PS4 Banderas gifs.
