I'm taking this with a big grain of salt, but I can't imagine he would post this sort of thing if he didn't think he was making good progress.

He seemed to think he was making good progress a decade ago. This means absolutely nothing.
Let's be clear though, GRRM does not actually use Twitter. He has people that run his Twitter account. He only posts on his blog.

Which is fine, he is gonna finish The Winds of Winter then whatever else we get will be a bonus. Dude deserves to enjoy his remaining years however he wants.
It is pretty crazy though. I've had three different jobs, multiple promotions, bought a house, got married, and had a kid that turns two next week. All since the last book. But like I said, I've made my peace with the fact that he'll likely not finish the series.

I think I'm more entertained watching this man procrastinate than I would be from reading another ASOIAF book.
As I mentioned, I'm still taking it with salt since I will believe it when I see it. But, whether he wrote it or his team, they must know posting this is just gonna invite a metric fuck ton of speculation and questions.

A 75 year old man using an old ass computer is not that surprising to me.
I think once you cooked so long that the food has long stopped burning and producing smoking, and you just have ash on your pot, maybe you should stop cooking. At least turn off the stove and do some good for the environment.
