How are they able to play drive club without that damn yellow bar now that the servers are shutdown? I played it after server shutdown and it never goes away

I always wonder how much the rain droplets / wet roads do for making Driveclub look good as time goes on. It's like the "Jurassic Park T-Rex scene still looks good because the scene was at night" of games.

Another game that looks better than some modern racing games

There are some Youtubers who upload racing game comparisons (cars, weather, sound, etc) videos with new games, and at times include DriveClub... it would hold up at times, but obviously shows it's age at 30fps. But now? If some of these folks get a hold of an older PS5....well, even at 1080p... it would definitely put up a fight with the big dogs. The car models in this game are still legit.

Sony closing Evolution is still one of the most baffeling choices they've ever made. It was basically their version of Playground Games and the team put out some of the best arcade racers of the last few decades. Now they have no teams capable, or willing to make anything similar (GT doesn't count as it's a sim).

The fact that modders can do this, but Sony does nothing is just so baffling to me.

Still the best weather in a racing game. The way the rain drops eventually run off the trailing cam once you enter a tunnel is top tier. Closed track racing games will always look better than open world racing games. Would love to revisit this game at 60.

That legit looks amazing. After Zipper, Evo is the Sony closure I wonder most about.

Man the lighting in this game is phenomenal. 10 years later and it holds up so well.

Best racing game in the past 10 years. I would do anything to have it return with updated PS5 features.

Man, I would love a Driveclub spiritual successor. The same handling and track design but focused more on single player. Something like the original Grid's career mode. Or go nuts with it and take inspiration from SSX and have fun characters that become rivals/friends throughout the game. Customizable cars and drivers. 2000's rock and electronic soundtrack that reacts to the gameplay.

Bloodborne, now this. This PS5 hack scene's looking more interesting with every day. If they also somehow make let's say all PS VR1 games to work on VR2 without any need for ports despite what Sony says, or actually working PS2\PS3 emulator and I'd be very tempted to even sell mine with up-to-date firmware just to get a hacked one...

Lol, same. I went looking to see if I bought one and just put it away... well, nope, but I just found a unopened shipping box with a Xbox Series X in it lol.
Some of the things I read on this website are just so wild and unrelatable. I cannot fathom spending the $500 to buy a game console and then just... forgetting that I even bought it.

Damn, now I wanna jump back into Driveclub. Am I still able to download the game even if it's gone from PSN store?

It hurts so much. Motorstorm & Driveclub are so incredibly good. 😕

When I was cleaning up I found my drive club ps4 case and was so pumped to fire it up again... and the case was empty with no disc.
From joy to sadness.

The weather in this game was nuts. Actually made driving in the terrible conditions fun

Goddamn it, Sony

been replaying this via remote play to my steam deck recently, game absolutely holds up and in some ways some of what it was trying to do haven't really been done again. but you certainly feel the 30 fps increasingly over time, it would just do wonders for the games playability

anyone tried to unlock the frame rate for RDR1 to show Rockstar how it should be done? Or the game requires new fw

I wish they would use this tech to make a driving (not racing) simulator. I want to obey the rules of the road on realistic roads and highways and visit landmarks.

Still till this day the most impressive weather effects I've seen in a racing game and just their use of motion blur period, it always feel way smoother than your typical 30 fps game.

I love the motorstorm games more than maybe any other game that generation but I dont think any of them performed at the level sony wanted them to. Evolution certainly never became sony's playground. Couple that with some big missteps and bad luck - the earthquake basically sinking apocalypse, driveclubs disastrous launch window - and I can sort of see sonys perspective, much as I wish it was different. With the benefit of hindsight now on their next two games too, it was arguably the right call - onrush just was a really bad read of the room at the time (I know it has its fans) and dirt 5 has now ended the series.

in some ways, the evo team was kind of hard done by just by circumstances but they just never really became the high performing team that many in the Sony staple do over time.

The team at Evolution would have done some nasty stuff on a PS5 native exclusive. 😢

I sometimes absolutely despise how woefully Sony treats their legacy of games. Sure, Driveclub launched almost a year late and was bombarded by server issues at launch, but I cannot understand how those two blind spots would lead to the game being completely neglected. It was an undeniable looker well before release and ultimately fell wayside to competing games that did not even come close to the vision Evolution Studios set out to realize.

This game was Sony's opportunity to have their own arcade-esque racer coexist alongside Gran Turismo. Instead, it was shelved with not a single technical update in sight. Meanwhile, individuals who are not even employed by Sony are able to get the game running at a greater fidelity than what can be achieved by a vanilla PlayStation 5.
