I was surprised there wasn't a thread talking about what is going on with conservatives and pride this year.

Matt Walsh, the self admitted theocratic fascist at Ben Shapiro's company has stated that his goal is to make the concept of "pride" to be toxic. They're doing this both with corporations financially as well as rhetorically to make people view pride as a bad thing.

Obviously the Bud Light thing, then Target, now, well, any company that supports pride month.

They're doing it rhetorically by trying to make it "people who support pride vs. everyone else" with rhetoric like "why do we have a month celebrating one of the seven deadly sins?", "pride month is an attack on Christians", "why do troops only get a day but gays get a month?" etc etc.

The problem is, it's working, at least a little. Checking conservative family members' facebooks, they're talking about pride for the first time ever, and they're regurgitating the talking points. Bud Light and Target took tangible financial hits. That's going to scare off other companies in the future.

This matters because while yes, rainbow capitalism exists because market research shows that corporations will make more money by supporting pride than by not supporting it, it's also a good sign of the times when that is true. The idea that we could be going backwards is dangerous and very scary.

They changed it in honor of Lou Gehrig, it's literally the day meant to honor him. Maybe check the account and see what's going on before making a thread and making proclamations about stuff like this next time.
