MegaMan X: Corrupted Intro Stage - Preview

Well talk about a way to start off the new year. For folks new to this, Megaman X Corrupted is the longest in development Megaman X Fangame with a open world design like ZX/Metroid. This is also the most ambitious X fangame to date. We finally get to see the intro stage (and title intro) to Megaman X Corrupted! And it's as fucking amazing as you'd think it'd be.

edit: Just noticed in my rush, looks like they got a new character named Snythia in the mix on top of X and Zero.

I've been watching streams of this game for the past few months and its amazing how much work the developers have put into it. This feels like a Streets of Rage Remake tier effort here.

any sort of explanation or intro as to what Corrupted is? MMX is probably one of my favorite games ever and I'm sitting here staring blankly at the video. Fan game?

I'm genuinely more excited for this to come out than some big budget games. While I do worry about scope creep (it's been over 10 years!!!), everything they've shown has been incredible and could be one of the best Megaman games ever created.

Highly recommend following JKBGames on Twitch since he does dev streams every Friday. There's also a discord where he'll sometimes post non-listed WIP videos on the YouTube channel.

It certainly looks good, but if I was designing it, I would make a strict rule of no more than three text boxes per stage. Later MMX series games got downright tedious with how chatty they were, and holy hell, half of this six minute video was dialogue.

Whelp it's actually gonna be more like Metroid/ZX with a huge world open world to navigate. Prob more like X5 worldview etc considering Signas etc are there.

Is Capcom OK with the fan made games? Because this looks like nothing short of an official sequel for the SNES MMX style. A bit slow on the development side, but impresive results nontheless

What is it about the end of 2020 that's making all these dead-but-now-not-dead-anymore projects come back to life?

Technically as someone mentioned, there's been very live development of X Corrupted, with livestreams on the development. It's just been a long ass time plus they've had to move off Flash etc,

I've been following this project for so long. It's kind of amazing the amount of progress the devs have done this last year.

Is this finally getting a western release?

Capcom had it listed as upcoming for the US iOS app store ages ago but this is starting to feel like that Castlevania mobile game all over again. :(

Capcom would have nuked megaman maker from orbit by now to be honest since that literally lets you build an entire 8 bit style megaman game with a level editor same as Mario maker.

On 4chan, he said that the end is in sight. Though he has been working on this for over 12 years and scope creep has been a big concern.

That save file tease, haha. I haven't exactly been *following* this but enjoyed seeing glimpses over the years. Kind of crazy to think that it might actually be done soon (TM).

Rewatching it with my brother, I just noticed there is a neat easter egg from 4:02 to 4:30.
The two NPC guards are the Daft Punk duo

It's so badass, I felt like crying. I hope I'm able to play Corrupted one day, because there's no way Capcom will ever deliver a MM game this good.

As long as you don't attempt to sell it using their assets you are fine. Shanghai.EXE, a battle network fangame, got canceled because of this when it was almost done. Luckily, it seems like fans picked development back up and are finishing it.

There are a ton of Megaman fangames though, one of the most active communities for that.

All of these years and I still get so hyped with every new little bit of info/footage of this project. This is one where I feel the wait will be totally worth it.

I like that it has other NPC Maverick Hunters actually doing shit like taking fighting enemies.

The theme for the intro stage is great too.

Real talk, Megaman X4 was a major game of my childhood and I played it with cheats for the Ultimate armor (which looked badass to 10/11 y/o me back then and still is).
If my younger self saw that 15-20 second intro his mind would be blown.
It's a simple thing but I loved it <3

Now I need the music from this video uploaded because I am vibin' to that intro stage music~
