Masahiro Sakurai in his Famitsu Column decided to go over all of the DLC Charcters and goes into some details regarding the making of them and some behind the scenes factoids regading them
No he doesn't
People have speculated this when it comes to Twintelle not being the ARMS rep (because she uses her hair to fight, not her arms), so it's interesting to have it confirmed here.Sakurai felt that long arms were the key to making a fighter who feels like they're from ARMS.
But at the same time, I recall the original comment he made during the presentation being a bit concerning in his wording.Sakurai prefers Pyra, so he is clearly a man of culture and refined tastes.
Remember that they're concerned with balancing for casual players much more than expert players. They don't want Sephiroth to feel "cheap" for kids playing.Feel like they were a bit too afraid with Sephiroth's balancing. He isn't that good tbh. His mobility's alright, but that framedata and his weight (combined with his hurtbox size) are not winning him any prizes. Wish they just made him heavy tbh. Final bosses are supposed to be durable motherfuckers. I don't think he'd be the best character in the game even if he was like Kazuya's weight.
Would Nintendo even be in control of that? For 3rd party characters I'm assuming they'd have to use the existing/approved VAs, if they already had oneI really hope the next Smash game is unionized. The game being non-union in its English voice production could be felt in a number of areas, including Cloud & Sephiroth not having English voices.

Nintendo were likely the ones to decide if Smash would be a unionized production or not, & I'd imagine that they weren't allowed to cast soundalikes for the FFVII characters.Would Nintendo even be in control of that? You do not get to complain about Charizard being in the air when b-air exists.Reading the excerpt about Sora needing to feel fun in the air has me wondering why Charizard feels like dog water whenever he's airborne.
It literally feels like he's jumping in spite of his body, like his wings are an afterthought. Definitely a character they need to go back to the drawing board with. Same with the other winged characters as well.
The correct answer would be neither tbh. Sakurai is a man of terrible taste.Sakurai prefers Pyra, so he is clearly a man of culture and refined tastes.
Tekken treats Jin and Devil Jin as separate characters, and only Kazuya can change forms at will, so I'd imagine not (or at least not seriously).I wonder if they considered Jin at all instead of Kazuya, seems like Heihachi was pretty much off the table from the get-go.
You are woefully underestimating how often 8 player Smash (which is really 5-8 player smash) gets played in any sort of get-together. In various friend circles, that is THE way to play Smash. Really 1v1 is the outlier mode for weirdos. Also it seems thats 8 vs smash cause more trouble than its worth when creating unique characters like the ice climbers and rex. I say they should fucking cut it, it probably has very little play for most people.

That would be a horrible idea. 8 player Smash is the ultimate party game.Oh wow, he actually wanted the idea of rex controlling pyra and mythra but couldnt because of hardaware limitations. Its a pity because it would have been more original and close to how the games control, than just 2 sword fighters more.
At least is cool he really wanted to make it feel like the real game.

Should have been Elma to make everyone happyI do think Rex/Pyra would have been intresting but i am fine with Pyra/Mythra

So worldwide, I would guess it goes:
1.Sora
2. Bayonetta
3. Cut Vets
4. Banjo
5. Goku, Shrek, etc...
Why people always want to put asterisks on Bayo winning the ballot.Sakurai's exact verbiage over Bayo was "Top 5 possible characters" so I imagine she wasn't in the true top 5, probably not top 10 either.

That tracks with the FF/DeNA mobile game that seems to exist due to Nomura's whims. Keyblades were made their own weapon type and only KH characters could equip them. Even though the mobile game OC protagonist who's gimmick is that he can use any weapon type and skillset including the gender locked Witch spell list (for Rinoa, Matoya and similar female characters). We got a bit more context about the Sora trailer, but the translation for now will be a bit rough until PushDustIn or someone else gets to it.
Interestingly enough, it seems like Sakurai wanted to give Mario a specially-designed keyblade for the trailer, but Disney said no.『スマブラSP』インタビュー。桜井政博氏がDLC制作秘話や配信番組の裏話、今後のことなどを語り尽くした! | ゲーム・エンタメ最新情報のファミ通.com
