As a Elden Ring Boss Hater™ though I'll use this to continue to think they gave bosses basically Sekiro / Bloodborne speed + animation reading and left the player in Souls mode.
They usually just kept 1 boss that stands out from the rest that may have been an scrapped idea from a previous or future game that may not belong like Malenia, Demon of Hatred, Manus

Looks cool.

I just hope that people don't delude themselves into somehow taking this as proof that "akshuAlLy, Malenia was a Sekiro boss originally!" which I've seen a few redditors already do.

Elden Ring has a huge variety of bosses and having one with a swifter, longer-range katana combat is nothing special when Fire Giant, Maliketh, Horah Loux, and many others exist, too. Or lemme guess, Horah Loux stems from FromSoft's secret unannounced and cancelled fighter game...

Everything besides waterfowl is like super telegraphed for Sekiro I think (and it looks like lol), would be a way easier boss, looks cool though

Sekiro is such an amazing game.

Having to parry Malenia's shit would've tilted the fuck out of me since I know she would've had added-on BS to make her harder in Sekiro lol.

I find dodging in Elden Ring much easier than parrying shit in Sekiro.

Is there a mod that puts sekiro style parrying in Elden ring? That might be a cool way to play it.

Just more confirmation that some of the Elden Ring bosses are a better fit in Sekiro than they are in Elden Ring.

I popped off when I saw they did a mikiri counter for her too lol But this clearly shows she isn't a Sekiro boos just influenced since she's pretty easy with the way parry works here 🤷‍♂️

I wonder if someone has tried to put Demon of Hatred in Souls/ER.
Now that would be probably harder than this since DoH works because of the mobility you get in Sekiro. It'd suck to stay close to him.

My god it's absolutely beautiful.
They somehow created her for Sekiro 2 but that never happened so they thought it would have been a waste to no put her in a game and put her in ER instead...

I think people use the "sekiro boss" thing to point out her moveset and play style fit Sekiro more than Soul, rather than implying she was literally from Sekiro lol.

She's pretty easy in this form but any real Sekiro version would have different / more attacks and changed AI. But still even in this 'just attack the player' form it's pretty fitting.

I mean, either she's in some form reworked from Sekiro, or just a very specific nod to Sekiro that doesn't fit ER's cadence particularly well. The first option doesn't seem much more far-fetched to me. And I'm not saying that in an "omg cut content / how dare they" kind of way, but that there's always a bunch of stuff that doesn't quite make it, and there's nothing unusual about leveraging that in other projects when applicable.

Edit: I'd say arguing the opposite (which is actually happening ITT) is even sillier. Just because a drag-and-drop between games doesn't perfectly work as an end game boss with fine-tuned balance and everything apparently means nothing about the boss could've possibly been designed with that game in mind.

She's pretty easy in this form but any real Sekiro version would have different / more attacks and changed AI. But still even in this 'just attack the player' form it's pretty fitting.
Absolutely. And she still looks more difficult than Genichiro as is.

I like how Sekiro had a Bloodborne boss (Demon of Hatred) and a Dark Souls boss (Armored Warrior), and Elden Ring has Malenia as a Sekiro boss.

How would Demon of hatred be a BB boss? a lot of it's attacks are only dodgeable by jumping or shields, side step would be too short for most of it's attacks - I think that was more an ER boss.

Manus was made while Bloodborne was in devolpment and I think a boss like it fits BB more

Cool, but she's a non threat in Sekiro lol.

The "she's a Sekiro boss" comments never resonated with me as she lacks the characteristics that makes Sekiro bosses Sekiro bosses.

She has no real timing changes ups/delays, reactive moveset or any real tricky perilous attacks you have to react to.

Damn her bullshit DOES NOT LOOK EFFECTIVE against sekiro man (whatever his name is). I would love to see nioh man vs her too. Nioh man would probably curb stomp her before she gets of waterfowl once.

Why does it make Waterfowl Dance look slow?
Is it because when you play Sekiro time moves slower? You look at the game like the people in the ship look at the Matrix?
I never understood what every hit was in Waterfowl Dance while playing Elden Ring, but looking at this video, I can see every single one O_o

I mostly mean visually. I always took it as a reference to the beasts in BB like Vicar Amelia and Cleric Beast.

I never reached late game in Elden Ring but I felt like most of the bosses I've seen so far were designed with Dark Souls 3 in mind but you are given a Dark Souls 1 character to work with which is fine by me it adds to the challenge but the mismatch is definitely felt.

For real though, the only thing about Malenia that was unreasonably difficult to handle in Elden Ring was her waterfowl combo. That move makes more sense in Sekiro, but everything else seems a bit too plain and easy.

If she were actually designed for Sekiro I imagine her attacks would be sped up quite a bit and she'd be moving a lot more around the arena instead of constantly coming at the player. A lot of Sekiro bosses tend to maneuver a lot more in general thanks to the far greater mobility and a lack of a stamina bar.

Honestly I don't think people would make the connection without Waterfowl Dance lol The complaint would be the typical "Bloodborne boss in Dark Souls"

that is an impressive mod. I wonder how that works. Just a simple character replacement, or any significant engineering changes done?

malenia would have been a fucking tutorial boss in Sekiro.

Yup, the people saying she "fits perfectly" as is are delusional. I can kind of see that her general moveset may have some elements taken from Ishiin, but slowed way down.

Also, for those curious, the main character's name is Wolf; he's given the alternate name Sekiro by Ishiin.

Port the entirety of Elden Ring to Sekiro and maybe I'll finish it this time :(
