That T Rex scene in JP still holds up. In fact a lot of that movie's CG held up for a lot longer than it had any right to as a movie made in 1993

How has this thread gone 17 posts without someone bringing up the end of Mortal Kombat Annihilation? Even as a naive kid I recognized those effects were bad.

Came here to post Lawnmower Man, only because I've seen it recently.

The film sort of gets away with it because everything is supposed to be CG.

Spawn is just... Jesus, they fucked up that whole movie so bad.

The animation in this movie holds up really well for something from 96. I think the CGI has actually aged better then the actual sets and costumes. Almost anything that isn't the dragon looks surprisingly cheap these days.

Principal photography was done with a very inexperienced crew.

Yeah, I'm watching some clips, and the costumes look on par with the Xena or Hercules shows.

Whereas Draco still looks great, especially when he's in full sunlight or deep shadow, where the now-archaic CGI lighting isn't so obvious.

Reboot is not bad CGI, it's just early CGI.

Mainframe was on the tip of the spear, and with a kid's tv show budget to boot.

It was hideously ugly, even at the time, and it wasn't THAT early.
I knew people who swore by it, but I couldn't stand looking at it. Beast Wars, too.

That's really cool. It makes the disparity make much more sense.

Also, yes Reboot looks its age, but that second and third season are still awesome. I would still rank it as one of the most ambitious shows for kids.

I consider Jurassic Park (1993) was one of the best.

Then again, I was a kid back in 1993, and thought the CGs were fantastic & realistic.

That weird shot of Michael Myers in H20 where they used cg instead of reshooting a scene after the changed mask mid production.

i remember thinking even back then how bad this looked, even though it was one of the first examples of cgi i've ever seen.

I feel like having another character in the movie with almost the same design, but with CGI (by a different studio) that's like a million times better kinda highlights that.
