Well, wish I could say I was surprised.
Was only a matter of time before we started hearing about the game being either banned or censored in certain territories.

Yeah love when you classify a lot of countries into one conglomerate for the hits, not every country in the ME has issues with homosexuality.

Wouldn't have thought that those countries are seen as a common market.

Turkey is part of the Europe region when it comes to PlayStation right?

I hope the game doesn't get banned there. Homosexuality is legal in Turkey, though it's not up to Western standsrds of acceptance, but it's not as bad as the MENA countries.

Ironically, if that rule had continued, the Middle East might be a much much more Secular place overall today (assuming all of the Secularisation reforms that happened in Turkey would have happened elsewhere as well).

The benefit of an official release is that it can get an Arabic localization which leads to more games sales.

The last game had themes of rape, cannibalism but god forbid two people of the same sex show affection one another. Saying that, i'm not suprised.

That's all good and at least ensures they can get the game, but people presumably would much prefer to centralise their purchaes around their main account, and more importantly this:

Don't think it got banned in the ME but it's not really a fair comparison. Part 2 has actual scenes with same sex stuff going on.

Nothing the underground market can't fix, it is a big market in most Middle Eastern countries so people will get it without much issue. If I had interest in the game and still lived in the middle east I would have bought it just to stick it to goverments. Biggest issue is the damn localization cause now there won't be arabic, farsi etc.

this really sucks, but it was to be expected. fortunately gamers in the region are used to just buying games from US/EU digital stores, and i'm sure physical copies will be imported and sold in huge numbers.

foreign games almost never get localized to farsi (as no major game publisher does business here officially). but yeah arabic localization probably isn't gonna happen.
