What is the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series?
A collection of two remasters, "Klonoa: Door to Phantomile" and "Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil." Both titles are 2D side-scrolling platformers that have you running, jumping, grabbing and tossing through a series of level-based stages that offer some optional exploration to encourage hunting for collectable items.

How long are the games?
The original release of "Klonoa: Door to Phantomile" takes around 5 hours to complete and "Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil" a bit longer and approaches the 8 hour range, but your playtime will be influenced by difficulty and interest in finding collectables.

What's changed with these remasters?
In addition to unlockable hard difficulty, 2-player support and stopwatch modes—the visuals have been given a significant overhaul from the original releases including reverting the artistic changes made in the Wii remake of "Klonoa: Door to Phantomile" (character design, voices, color palette) to fall more in line with the PS1 original.

Can I turn off the tutorial prompts?
Yes, there is a toggle for that in the options menu.

How does the game perform on the various consoles?
*Switch (Docked): 60fps at 1080p
*Switch (Handheld): 60fps at 720p
**Xbox One: 60fps at 1080p
Xbox Series S: 60fps at 1440p
Xbox Series X: 60fps at 2160p
**PlayStation 4: 60fps at 1080p
PlayStation 5: 60fps at 2160p

*Analysis of the Asian pre-demo for the game on Switch shows it does not maintain that 60fps target.
**The game does not have enhancements for the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.

Steam Deck compatibility?
While the game has not yet been marked as officially compatible, early impressions show that they game is running well on the machine.

Physical release?
Yes, but only in Asian and European territories. If you wish to own the game physically in North America you will, as of writing this thread, need to import it (all versions support the English language).

PocketTactics - 9/10
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie is a superb collection of platform games that shine a light on an iconic character from the genre, one that deserves this moment. Both games are full of fun and intricately designed levels, and not only look stunning, but are warm and welcoming.

PrimaGames - 8/10
These are excellent ports-slash-remasters, and if you track down a physical copy from Europe or Japan, that new box art is lovely. These are excellent games that deserved and still deserve better. But it's great to have them and play them again without dragging out a PS2. I just hope the numbers look good enough at the end of the day for more.

PushSquare - 7/10
Phantasy Reverie Series is a relatively no-frills remaster collection. There's a couple of quality of life improvements and the games have a fresh lick of high definition paint, but if you didn't like Klonoa back in the day then you're not going to like it now. If you didn't play Klonoa at the time then you won't have the prerequisite nostalgia goggles necessary to gaze upon these games and see them for anything more than what they are — a couple of pretty good platformers and little else, and that's fine.

Super excited to play this!

Have to wait for my PS5 copy from the UK though, apparently someone decided they should only release Switch physical here in Australia.

Thanks for the OT, didn't realize it releases this week, I wish the marketing was better since they said the future of this IP depends on this release doing well.

Great OT, OP. I loved Klonoa as a kid. Took me forever to find a copy of it for PS1 back in the day after buying Klonoa 2. Ended up finding it at EBgames used for like $15. I was so happy.

I implore to every ERA member to purchase this game for whatever platform. We NEED a new entry in this series. Klonoa is such a lovable character.

LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!

I have waited so damn long for this to be a reality....and the US doesn't get a physical version unless it's by LRG.

Anyways, let's get excited over one of the catchiest theme jingles for a game ever. Make sure to hold L1/R1 for another version & L2/R2 for a 3rd version of the YAHOO in Klonoa 2!

OMG, same here. I remember borrowing the PS1 from my babysitter when I was like 8 & I had rented this from Family Video, but there was no memory card, so I had to beat it in one sitting. I get to the ending & bawling my eyes out, only to then see it's like midnight & now I'm crying because I thought I was gonna get in trouble by my parents for staying up so late.

I probably won't be able to get my copy for like a week and a half or more. We are flooded surrounding our suburb atm and access is cut off.

Hopefully EB will hold it for me that long.

Hey Era, I WANT Klonoa

(Namco let me preorder it already, the game still has no eshop page and it comes out in like two days!)

Oh dang it's tomorrow? Thought it was Friday.

Gotta decide if I want to play Omori first or this. I probably should go for it tbh, I could use something fast and breezy.

I've never played this series, and I'm interested, but $40 is a bit hard to swallow for me. I'll see how reviews pan out.

I'm so sorry everyone, I was planning on getting this day one to help the series but I got into a car accident and have bills to pay :'(

I honestly can't wait to listen to the soundtrack soon, Klonoa always has a way of cheering me up!

So is there STILL no info on the DLC stuff for the US? I know other countries had pre-order bonuses of stuff like being able to wear the outfit from the sequel in the original & vice versa, but nothing.

Namco is barely marketing Klonoa, again... idiots.

Wild to me that they won't even post any of the new gameplay/trailers on their own American YouTube channel. Their Asian and European counterparts had been putting out updates on a regular basis for weeks now, but nothing has made it to their NA channel.

I only played the GBA game, but it's safe to assume that the gameplay for these ones is about the same? I remember the GBA game being a ton of fun.

There are less puzzles in the console games, more of a focus on platforming, but the mechanics are mostly similar if I remember right.

Disappointed in the lack of a US physical and reports of Switch version's poor performance.

Will buy on PS5 for now.

I've been waiting for this. I need a light hearted platformer right now. Just waiting on Sony to update the store.

I thought I saw a video of "Wahoo" in every language from the Wii version, and now I can't find it.

Just got notification my copy has shipped. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow. Is Klonoa 1 "just" a port of the Wii version or ir it new?
