UPDATE: Link to recap article:
https://www.vgr.com/kinda-funny-games-showcase-2018-live-news-roundup/

In lieu of PSX, Kinda Funny is hosting the Kinda Funny Games Showcase on their Twitch channel December 8th. It will likely be mostly indie titles, but it's shaping up to potentially have the types of announcements that third parties would make at a PSX press conference. Here's what we know to expect so far:

At least 63 games:

Something from the Yakuza team:

PSVR Announcements

At least two titles for the Vita (!): gameovergreggy "I currently have two games for the #KFGShowcase that are listing Vita as a platform."

A Smash Bros. Ultimate Afterparty!

Confirmed locks:
-Mini-Mech Mayhem (PSVR) from FuturLab (Velocity 2X)
-Adams Ascending from Parable Worlds
-Double Cross from 13AM Games
-Desert Child from Akupara Games
-2 games from Noodlecake Games (Super Stickman Golf)
-YIIK from ACKK Studios
-Turbolance from Turbolance
-Long Gone Days from Bura (based in Santiago, Chile)
-Aftercharge from Chainsawesome Games
-ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove from Humanature Studios release date announcement
-Wraith Games
-Drinkbox Games (Guacamelee, Severed, Mutant Blobs Attack)
-Mike Bithell (Volume, Thomas Was Alone, Subsurface Circular)

What are you hoping makes an appearance? What seems reasonable, and what's a "Tim Gettys #GetHype" moment? What else am I missing? I'm sure that Greg has said some stuff on podcasts that I've missed.

TGA will get all the big stuff. So I expect this to showcase lots of indies and VR titles that would never get stage time at TGA. Localization news would be cool too. It would make my day if Trails 3+4 get announced for the West, but I don't think anyone at KF is familiar with the franchise.

Hope this goes well, they deserve it. This is a really good thing they're doing.

Plus it's something I can watch live.

Wondering if the peeps over at KindaFunny managed to land some big surprises for this event as far as game reveals go. Going into this expecting for it to be an event for localization announcements and great indie representation, but holding out hope for something BIG, like a new AAA game reveal, or a new trailer for some other big title; but i'm sure that stuff's been reserved for the game awards already. Huge step forward for KindaFunny as a company though.

Greg has also confirmed multiple AAA publishers are involved (keyword: involved) and multiple shadow-drops. Companies like Devolver and Annapurna have replied to his showcase tweets as well. I think this is going to be way more substantial than people expect. Possibly similar to the first couple of PSX presentations which were heaven for indies, ports and localizations.

Really excited for the Showcase. As a long time fan since the days in the spare bedroom, it's really dope to see how far they've come. Really big moment, no matter the size of the games announced.

Would be kinda amazing if Rocksteady actually let Greg reveal Superman. If TGA has Avengers, I could maybe see them doing it.

Realistically though a bunch of cool indie and AA games.

Pretty fascinated by the fact that they're doing this. Lowkey baller move on Greg's part. Hope it goes well! I'll definitely be watching if I can.

I'd be very, very surprised if this is anything outside of indie game announcements and updates to AA games.

Any word on big japanese developers/publishers being confirmed for this event? I'm in a "check out the announcements after the show" phase with this right now, but I might actually chime in if they've got something like Fromsoft, Team Ninja/Koei Tecmo, or Square confirmed for the show.

If this gets all the indie titles, then you could look at it that TGA probably only has a roster of mostly large games to talk about. I mean...sixty three titles? A lot of those are definitely indie or VR.

I'm looking forward to watching this eventually on YouTube but with Smash weekend parties there's no time to catch it live.

Do you remember any specifics/have anywhere you can point me to for this? I'd love to call some of those out in the OP!

63 games is.... a lot. It would be cool if Greg got the Rocksteady Superman reveal. Doubt that would happen though lol

Not a fan of Greg Miller or Kinda Funny but will watch hoping it will be half as good as PSX was two years ago.

No specifics aside from the Yakuza announcement as far as I'm aware

I found my post that I made in the Kinda Funny OT that has a link to some of the infi
Greg Miller was on Podcast Beyond this week and dropped some details on the Games Showcase (Starts around 1:06:38).

https://youtu.be/tqA0Xkga2qs

Quick details:
- Looking to be around 2 hours long
- Will include both indies and AAA companies
- Appears to have around 50-60 games currently slated to appear
- Announcements, release dates and shadow drops all confirmed
I also saw that Drink Box has an announcement for it. Probably Guacamelee 2 for other platforms.

That's the only one i've seen myself, but I figured maybe other's have seen something else. Worth asking though haha

As someone who's been following Greg's work for the best part of a decade, this feels like a defining moment for him/Kinda Funny. Can't wait to see what they've got.

Even if it's a bunch of smaller announcements, indies whatever, this is still super ambitious for a company their size.

I really hope Jared isn't on this. Much as I love Kinda Funny and the great work they do, he makes it unwatchable these days for me.

Thread bookmarked!
Big fan of Kinda Funny and Greg Miller, and am very much looking forward to this showcase even if it isn't bursting at the seams with AAA game trailers
Wishing them the best of luck, hopefully this fills the PSX void

Super proud of the KF squad for doing this. I'm sure it wasn't easy at all to put together, and I'm in for any game news!

Good luck KF Crew!

Do not. That's me begging them with you. :)

I just want to say that as a 10-year fan of Greg Miller, having you be all up in my hype thread is a dream come true. Beyond!

PS: One time you gave 15 year-old me a personal, hour-long tour of the IGN offices and it is still one of the most memorable days of my 21-year-old life. You're great!

This is why Easy Allies need a studio tbqh (there, we got the obligatory comparison/mention out of the way).

Looking forward to some of them, should be some good indies.

Honestly I think this Greg Miller guy might've accidentally stumbled on the next big thing. The typical showcases are done by people who aren't typically in front of the camera, that is kinda funnys strength, they always seem loose and ready to go, it will probably come across much more smoothly than your typical trade show . I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 years this is their bellcow.

Sidenote: just got into kinda funny, currently watching the game over greggys up to episode 25. I would definitely bang the goat .
