Grimes has been on a descent ever since meeting Elon Musk, and she's done and said questionable things in the past couple of years.

But now it appears she has gone full mask-off and liked a tweet that follows the alt-right "Total N***er Death" meme.

The post she liked:

Context of the meme which originated from 4-chan.

She is also following numerous alt-right accounts.

Pretty sad to see but not surprising at all.

I wonder how their baby with the weird name will turn out in the end. Kid has no hope being a normal adult but at least he'll have cash.

I mean, she let Musk convince her that she is not real, she is just a construct created to love him. And she admitted to this in an interview!

Not necessarily. Just because Musk got everything from his father doesn't mean he'll keep the gravy train flowing. I can see him wanting his children to fend for themselves and create their wealth from scratch, just like he did.

Jesus I had no idea that meme began with racism... fucking 4chan

I think I first encountered that on some Elder Scrolls meme page but realistically I think that checks out now that I actually find out the origin

I feel like she's just dumb and just saw that as a silly historical meme without understanding the implications of it?

This is kinda where I land. I think a lot of times she tries to tie herself to things that make her sound smart or worldly but is really just kinda dumb

I question anyone who would date Elon Musk. Though I'm not sure I would qualify this as "full mask off". If I saw that tweet I would have no idea it was referencing a racist 4chan post. Is this a super well known meme or something? I'd legit never heard of it before. "Full mask off" to me would be if she liked a tweet saying the original 4chan thing.

Edit: I retract this. She actually follows this account and has liked multiple tweets by them. No way she hasn't seen their nazi shit.

I think this is actually what is going on.

I really don't think Grimes has earned the benefit of the doubt here. Not only was she in a relationship with Elon Musk (and has defended him on numerous occasions post-breakup) but she follows people like Bari Weiss. She's worse than "just kinda dumb". She fucking sucks.

I have personally never seen or heard about this meme. Doesn't make her less of a bad person though probably.

She's never been the brightest bulb, listen to any interview with her and its very apparent shes vapid.

Doesn't excuse her behavior in the slightest though.

Whether you want to give her the benefit of the doubt or not... she definitely smells like a roll of nickels. Just seems like a gross person getting involved with gross stuff.

Yeah I don't follow Grimes at all other than knowing her as Elon's ex but the one example the OP posted wouldn't make me think she went mask off on its own.

I'm sure she'll double down soon enough though like folks do.

People probably aren't going to give her the benefit of the doubt anymore but yeah I've seen people fall for crusader memes before just because they thought it was silly nonsense.

Grimes may very well be a terrible person, but liking that meme in no way constitutes going "full mask off"

Honestly a lot of people left and right will co-opt genocide rhetoric as a joke when talking about fictional or historical races that no one irl would presumably be offended by.

Of course I think usually you can quickly tell when someone is being edgy and when someone literally is just using it to hide actual racism.

While I know most celebrities don't necessarily deserve the benefit of the doubt, this feels like the most likely thing. Hell, I've definitely liked memes with problematic connotations without realizing it.

Oh you mean the artist that ate spaghetti for an entire year straight and then had a dietician tell her that because of this she is malnourished is doing something dumb? You don't say!

I mean, it was copium that dating the guy who brought twitter in hopes of boosting alt-right content didn't reflect at all on her personal views.

Just like everyone who's always online and good with branding she just knew the right things to say considering her audience. But a rich person dating an alt-right billionaire was only going to end one way, they have a child together…it wasn't casual dating where she boots up Bloodborne and puts on headphones when he goes on an transphobic rant because the small talk and sex were good.

I will say I definitely recognized the language the meme used as definitely sounding like something actual racists would say with the serial numbers filed off.

She has all the red flags and associations. No need to give her the benefit of the doubt. She's pretty openly showing who she is and it's not just kooky meme stuff.

But the post only has 258 likes and only 14K views, it didn't even go viral for it to possibly come across her feed. And that account itself is quite suspect. Being named after Oswald Spencer, whose works have influenced Nazis and fascists.

Spengler is regarded as a nationalist and an anti-democrat, and he was a prominent member of the Weimar-era Conservative Revolution. Although he had voted for Hitler over Hindenburg in the 1932 German presidential election and the Nazis had viewed him as an ally to provide a "respectable pedigree" to their ideology,[4] he later criticized Nazism due to its excessive racialist elements, which led to him and his work being sidelined in his final years. He saw Benito Mussolini, and entrepreneurial types, like the mining magnate Cecil Rhodes,[5] as examples of the impending Caesars of Western culture—showcasing his stark criticism of Mussolini's imperial adventures.[6]

I think the original account is definitely probably a Nazi.

But yeah you do have a point it's a minor account you'd have to go looking for.

I distinctly remember the pushback against criticizing that whole situation, people being like "oh so I guess we're just gonna judge every woman by their husband's actions now huh? 🙄🙄".

And sure I get what they were saying but.... it's fucking Elon Musk my guys. He's literally an 80s cartoon parody of an evil rich guy, and an outright bigot. Like fucking come on lmao.

Strangely hateful against (long deceased ancestors of) French people. Like its bad and disgusting, I am not saying it's not, but feels a bit outdated, to put it mildly.
