Football Manager will finally have women's team in their game. It seems like they have been working on this for over a year behind the scene and been in conversation with people in the women's game.

It looks like they will have one database for all so it will allow players to manage a men's team and then switch to a female's team later on their career and then can switch back.

It will not be ready for next years game though.

Whenever I mention women's football on social media, people inevitably respond by asking when we're going to release a women's football version of Football Manager. Up until now, I've always replied with vague answers such as "When we do it, we'll do it properly".

What I haven't said, because we tend to keep our plans under wraps, is that we've been working on women's football in the background for some time now. A few people inside football are aware of this, as we've been talking to them about it behind the scenes, but now I believe that the time is right to go public with our plans.

Before I get into the detail, though, I would like to make one thing incredibly clear… we have NO interest whatsoever in making a standalone women's football version of FM.

What we are doing is adding women's football to FM... one sport, one game. FM players will be able to move seamlessly from managing a men's team to a women's team and back again. Women's football will be a part of the living, breathing world that constitutes every one of your FM saves; that world will just be whole lot bigger and a little more varied.

We also know that adding women's football to Football Manager is going to cost millions and that the short-term return it delivers will be minimal. But that's not the point.

I didn't know FM had actual licenses. Last time I played you still downloaded all the logos, names, and likenesses from fan collections.

Good stuff.

I wonder if the stats of the women will be baselines against women or against men. I.e will the best woman player have comparable stats to the best men's player.

Good news. Glad something like this will be in the game and it'll be more in-depth rather than just a token gesture. Good work SI.

Interesting to see how they deal with women's teams owned by other football clubs, which a lot are. If say you took control of Bristol City's men's team, would the women's team ultimately be under your control like the u-23s and the u-18s are? Or I wonder if they'll be separate. Would be cool if you could form a women's team of your own at a later date as well like how you can get your board to agree to increase your youth level to create an u-18/u-23 side if you don't already have one.

As much as I liked this versions game they have never portrayed lower league football particularly well. Going to be a drastic undertaking to make this work well.

One of the other reason they mentioned was that they do not have to continue doing stuff behind the scenes and do not need to continue answering questions from people requesting to add women's football in the game.

Miles always comes across as unlikeable, even when he is doing a good thing. That bit about how it's going to cost them millions and barely anyone will ever use it, not sure why that was needed.

I hope they are able to show the differences between the men's game and the women's game. The tackles should be cool.

It's been clear that this was in the works for a bit but nice to see it confirmed, and they're going all out for it.

I shall make Angel City FC into a powerhouse. And/or sell/trade everyone so I can get Catarina Macario. Definitely one or the other.

Same. I put in a few hundred hours in every FM. Always surprised by how little talk there is here about it. I understand OOTP Baseball, since it doesn't sell that much, but FM still sells a good amount. Just not a lot of simulation talk on this forum
