Max offers first look at 'It' prequel series 'Welcome to Derry'

Max released a tease for many of its 2024 and 2025 series, including a first look at the 'It' prequel series, tentatively titled 'Welcome to Derry.'

Warner Bros. Discovery has released a sizzle reel of its upcoming shows for 2024 and beyond, with looks at the new True Detective, Colin Farrell's The Penguin series, season 2 of House of the Dragon, and more. It also offers a first look at the It prequel series, tentatively titled Welcome to Derry.

The series was developed by It and It Chapter Two director Andy Muschietti, with sister and It producer Barbara Muschietti and Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs. The show will star Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Stephen Rider, and Madeleine Stowe. Andy will also reportedly direct multiple episodes of the series.

Part 2 was so bad I'm not sure how interested I am in this. But if reviews say it's more like Part 1 I'll check it out for sure.

This is probably old man yelling at clouds type shit, but I miss the days when a well-created mythology behind a story or setting was just that and nothing else. There is zero chance this series will accomplish anything but reducing It and Derry.

So they are making episodes out of the chapters detailing the other time periods Pennnywise was active? I am so in. I just hope they get Peter back.

well It was a beast of a novel (cocaine is helluva drug) so i think there's some "there" there, especially if it goes into other Stephen King 'lore'. but yeah it could go the other way

I love this premise. In the right hands it could be something special. I feel like if the Castlerock team were involved they would nail it. But the writer doesn't inspire much confidence. His only experience in horror is acting in It Chapter 2.

Funnily enough, he did voice work for Red Dead Revolver, Bully, and GTA IV early in his career.

This could work if it's using the chapters just based around the town/past incidents. Cautiously optimistic.
