First impression I got from this was a hybrid between Hyenas and Watch_Dogs 2. CGI announcement trailer is a bit disappointing. Maps and the world could be cool with the concept art we've had to go off of.

Definitely gave strong Ubisoft energy, which I suppose makes sense. Not my cup of tea usually, but we'll see. Not like it's coming out this year if they're showing a CG trailer though.

I don't know how successful this will be, but Payday 2 was pretty successful for 505 Games so who knows?

GAAS requires an active player base. If initial impressions don't take off, not sure how much mindshare it'll have to compete eventually.

Trailer screams like another Ubisoft GAAS title like Hyper Scape or whatever the hell.

i'm sorry but a game about stealing from rich people made for a console that you need to pay hundreds of dollars for and become a de facto consumer in the neo liberal machine is some really upsetting upper class fantasy about cool poor people that don't exist

The genre could not be further from Hyper Scape.

Well they want like one of each genre for this kind of thing right? This is probably not going to be just like an extraction shooter since Bungie is making one.

Payday 3 is purely coop right, and that genre has room for competition. So a pvpve version of that could do well, and could be different enough that it does not step on Payday 3's toes.

Doesn't this look very similar to Hyenas or am I going crazy? Like the font and the style and honestly pretty much everything.

One of the worst openings to a show I've seen. Disappointed this is what Haven is working on. I was hoping for something different.

Honestly, just a wet fart of an announcement. What they showed looked bland and derivative. Very strange choice to open the showcase, and the fact that it took hours to get a thread on Era says a lot.

Era really isn't the place that points to whether this project will be a success. So many super successful games out there get very little discussion on here. You will get more discussion on Silent Hill here than the next nba2k by a million miles…

PAYDAY 2 is PvE only yea. I'd imagine PAYDAY 3 will remain ultra faithful to PAYDAY 2 (it's going to be a lot more grounded this time around) but Fairgame$ still has to compete with Hyenas (I'm actually astounded at how similar both games look on closer inspection). I've played Hyenas before and can report the game looks and feels good to play. If Fairgame$ launches horribly and SEGA isn't stupid, Hyenas might take its lunch.

Especially when it's published by a multi-million company whose main purpose is to provide dividends to shareholders. It really doesn't feel genuine at all.

I am guessing this is going to straddle the line between a Payday and an extraction shooter. Marathon is supposed to be an extraction shooter, so I can see this leaning more into the pve aspects of Payday.

Tbh I hoped this was a watch dogs 2 copy or something, with like GTA V heist missions. Maybe even something you can play alone and have binary domain style of interactions :p.
Like at launch this could be really fun, but it's not something I think I'll stick to it? Maybe if it has a ranked like mode where you are set up against another team for a heist, given you could be competing against other teams.
