DC Dual Force Shut Down

DC Dual Force: The new digital collectible card game where the World's Finest team up and face off! Discover and build around your ultimate duo in PvP combat, or play through classic DC comics in PvE to earn exclusive card prizes! Sign up for the DC Dual Force Beta Today!

One of the main hallmarks of DC Dual Force will be its free weekly PvE offerings, short one-off chapters that follow an individual comic from DC's decades of comic history. Jones mentions Action Comics #1--Superman's first appearance--and the Red Son arc as two examples of stories these challenges could follow, but he says there are plenty of paths to choose from there.

"We've also talked with DC about other media as well," Jones explains. "For example: Black Adam, we could do a month-long series of PvE comics that are all around Black Adam or something like that. We could have a celebrity pick the comics in a given week. There's a ton of ideas."

"You think about how few and far between PvE content is for other digital CCGs; it's expensive, it's hard to make, and it gets consumed instantaneously," he remarked. "For us, that we're able to use all of these beloved comics as the baseline to build all of this PvE content from is such a great innovation."

Players will start with both of their Leaders in the back corners on the 3x2 grid board. A player can then play two cards per turn, be it a Minion, Action, or one of each, as well as activate Leader abilities using "charges" that accrue once per turn. These abilities can buff the Leader's attack power or defense, and sometimes include one of ten status effects

Even though I know better, I really hope this would be like a Capcom vs SNK: Card Fighters Clash/Pokémon TCG style of buy once, have all the cards and go from there.

word of caution:
don't buy any digital stuff from this developer based on ideas or plans or promises. wait to see what actually exists

they're board game developers who don't know what it takes to translate ideas into working software

I see what you mean and I'll stick to that.
However, I see the developer is Yuke's. They seem to have an ok/good track record.

EDIT: The text on the cards looks rather small.

I wasn't sure if it was better to message to this old thread, the only related thread I found when searching, or make a new thread. Ultimately, I haven't even posted enough in other threads to make a new one so I chose to do this. Sorry if this was the wrong thing to do.

I doubt that many were playing this game since I haven't really seen anyone talking about it. However, I was a really avid player and even paid for nearly every season. Now that it's ending soon, this is the ideal time to at least give the game a go if you are at all interested. Otherwise, the game will be disappearing come February. Any player now will have access to the benefits of a Gold Subscription and they're giving away so much premium currency just for logging in that anyone can make any deck or do anything at the moment.

At least in my region, there are actually a lot of online players if you want to give that a go. However, a real highlight of the game for me and other fans were the weekly PVE comics which recreated famous DC comic book stories in the game with many of the same story beats and new (to an extent) gameplay mechanics based around that story. This was great fun as the comics were never halfhearted, sometimes quite long or intricate, and often encouraged others and I to read the real thing. The mode also added sound effects, visual effects, and sometimes even voice acting to the comics which made some players even come to appreciate the mode for its own merits beyond their source material.

Despite the game only existing for a few months, there are loads of comics. If anyone wants to try some out, I would suggest Batman: The Man Who Laughs, the two Dark Knights Metal issues, and Justice League Dark the Witching Hour as I think those had the best combination of interesting game mechanics and a full-fledged story. Batman: The Man Who Laughs is particularly impressive and basically retells the entirety of that famous story.

Hopefully, you're not anticipating Suicide Squad! I still liked the card game aspect of Dual Force, but ultimately I was here for the DC stuff and I can't help but worry SS will suffer the same fate.

Holy shit that was fast.

It barely got off the ground.

Yeah, they never even got to the much-anticipated second set of cards. Apparently, that was going to finally add Teen Titans cards, which people were always asking for.
