Finally, we can dump and replace textures in Citra. I am fine with the original art but I really hate how UI and fonts scale up in high resolutions, especially in Pokemon games, so the experience is going to be much better, at least for me. I hope we can use AI upscaling tools like ESRGAN and Waifu-2x to upscale art, it will be much faster to create packs.

This is currently WIP and it is only available in experimental Canary builds so it will probably take some time to get into official builds.

oh hell yes! the 3DS has some amazing classics that look great scaled up, sans their very low res textures. this will make those so much more fun to revisit on a powerful PC! :D

I have not found a good ESRGAN dataset for MM3D textures, probably gonna be a multiple dataset thing. Upscaling Project Mirai DX textures with the higher resolution looks really quite good.

smt4 with hires 2D art could be great, maybe they can source art from material outside of the game. probably not possible....

I dumped a bit of textures from WarioWare Gold and used default Waifu2x settings, already looks better. I might do Bravely Default next using these or Pokemon.

Pokémon USUM (using Waifu2x). The biggest improvement is in the cloud textures:

Holy hell those clouds. What the fuck, I wanna keep using my hardware to add hours to those sweet stats, but this is too beatiful.

Did they ever implement the JIT recompiler? Last time I used it, the emulator was still quite slow even on my fairly high end rig of the time.

Would keyboard+mouse not work fine?
I figured that's already how it'd have to run on an emulator. That would work totally fine, though it may, ironically, be less comfortable than playing with a stylus since you're moving your wrist a lot more. And you'd have to lift the mouse a lot.

Really though I was just replying to what I quoted because I'm assuming they want dual sticks and that will never work with Uprising's balance. It was made with the control layout in mind, down to the enemy and level design.

I tried Gigapixel and also couldn't get any good results on the 3D Zeldas. I've been drawing a pack for MM on the 64 and I'm going to attempt to convert it to MM3D, since a lot of the textures seem to actually work there as is, so there'll be that at least.
Finally! This makes me super excited for a potential HD texture pack for OoT 3D by Nerrel after he's done doing Majora's Mask. I'm sure it'd look amazing.

If the mappings are practical to deal with, I'll do it. The 3D games densely pack the textures in a way that can be really hard to sort out:

It's mainly for the character textures, most of the big environmental textures are basically the same as the 64 textures.

In fact, MM3D reuses some of the 64 textures with little to no alteration:

Perfection. The upres works really well here because the brush stroke look matches the art style.
