Best/good 5~8 player Xbox One/Series X games (local, not online)?

Hey Era, having been away from the Xbox ecosystem for an entire gen and considering I live in a house where local multiplayer is extremely common (there's 6 of us and 5 of us are hardcore gamers), I've been wondering what's out there that's worth a look? If said game is on Game Pass I'd appreciate it if you could mention that.

I already have IDARB, but otherwise I'm completely unaware.

Overcooked is only 4 players iirc.

Golf with your Friends is something 8-12 players I can't remember.

Worms is a classic.

Jackbox Party Pack is a great party game too.

I play a lot of 8-player+ games but haven't looked into this much for Xbox - I don't think the selection is super great compared to like, Switch.

Worms W.M.D is 6-player. Party Golf is a cool idea - its 8-player mode is a hacky split-controller thing, but works for what it is. Super Bomberman R is an obvious one, and Runbow though it's a bit sad it must be nerfed from the Wii U 9-player.

There's Super Bomberman R. I've only played the Switch version, and it's not my fav version of Bomberman (that's '93), but it's on Xbox and supports up to 8 local players.

It looks like Obliteracers is on Xbox One - it can support up to 16-players on PC where it really shines, but it's a pretty solid Micro Machines-like. Clusterpuck 99 is also a very good 8-player game. Videoball is 6-player, it's pretty alright - Tim Rogers had a hand in it, gives it some notoriety.

OP if you have a Switch and want the absolute ultimate 8-player game on the system, you have to buy Pico Park right now. Trust me. You won't regret it in the slightest.

Clusterpuck is on Xbox as well? This is an absolute must for anyone else that looks this thread up! Don't sleep on this one!

BTW, avoid the Switch version if you want >4 as it forces you to use the single joy cons for some idiotic reason.

Ahah, I own it! Agreed! Wouldn't call it the ultimate 8 player game on the system as there's plenty of great ones, but definitely excellent!

We usually play the Saturn version as we prefer it, but yes... SBR is also an excellent suggestion. We occasionally give it a spin on Switch, but it almost always ends up being Saturn that gets played as not only do we prefer it but it's not uncommon at all for there to be over 8 of us and Saturn is 10 player.

Ah yeah, Switch controller limitations are a huge pain. I suggested Party Golf up above but that one is even worse on Switch because it literally only supports dividing the controllers up in-game, outside the OS, very hacky.

And lol, didn't expect you'd already know Pico Park but good to hear, gotta spread the word.

I double checked and weirdly, Screencheat removed its 8-player mode for the Switch "Unplugged" port but has it on Xbox still. Weird.

At the point you have 8 people sitting around 1 screen it's basically Jacbkbox. That's too crowded for most non hot seat or basic games.

maybe gang beasts? I'm unsure you can do that locally.

Gunscape looks pretty cool! Will have to change regions to get it, but I'll do so whenever it goes on sale. ^^

It's extremely common for there to be OVER 8 of us sitting around 1 screen and though Jackbox is indeed a good choice there's plenty of better games for 8, imho... Jackbox becomes way more relevant once we go OVER 8, in our group.
For clarification there's 6 of us in the house and on an average night there's at the very least 2~4 guests over, occasionally more, it's why local gaming is such a big part of my life. Oh, and obviously the part regarding the guests hasn't applied at all this year for obvious reasons.

I think boomerang fu is on it, it's amazing. 1-6 player local goodness. Updates are incoming which are dope too, but the game is simply magnificent already.

- Riptide GP 2 and Beach Buggy Racing are both 6-player Splitscreen, and both a lot of fun.

since you said you had a Switch, 8-player Sega Ages: Virtua Racing is currently exclusive to the Switch. it's a bit one-note compared to most multiplayer racers, but I'm a fan of the idea that the most expensive arcade game during my childhood can now have an EIGHT CABINET VERSION 100% perfectly emulated on a freaking Switch in split-screen.

It's single joy con only in multiplayer, thus rendering it useless in this context as I have exactly 0 joy cons.

Nintendo needs to do something about this single joy con only ridiculousness for some multiplayer games, btw...

edit:
system link recs are sadly useless in my personal case as well. Never actually knew anyone with an Xbox in my country. It has no presence whatsoever, Portugal is Sony land through and through!

Screencheat should go up to 8 players.

The game list goes up dramatically if you have even a basic PC.
