A bunch of backward-compatible Xbox 360 and OG Xbox games were delisted recently. Some were delisted with prior announcement; some just vanished. So I thought it'd be nice to make a thread listing all the BC games that require a disk to play on modern consoles (and all the XBLA titles that are gone, unless you can find a code). (We had an old thread listing all of these, but the person who made it was banned and it's pretty outdated now.) It's probably incomplete, so feel free to chime in with updates.

Games in italics are delisted but available on modern platforms in some form.

Retail Xbox 360 titles

Nice to have this list thanks.

I did not know MK9 was backwards compatible. Good to know!

Grabbed by the Ghoulies should be italicized, as it's playable via Rare Replay.

Useful list.

I already have the disc versions of the ones I care about (Pure, Fear + Fear Files, 50 Cent, Driver: San Francisco). I managed to get digital copies of many of these prior to their delisting, too.

Perhaps worth noting that a Shadows of the Damned remaster was announced not that long ago.

Are we expecting MGS HD to come back with the Master Collection now coming? I think the digital dream is dead

Thanks, I'll leave it in roman type for now until the remaster actually releases.

Oh right, it was. It's like Iron Brigade, available on Game Pass but not for separate purchase. So weird.

Knowing Konami, I highly doubt it.

SoulCalibur and SoulCalibur 2 HD should be on the XBLA list. Codes can still be found and bought online, but you can't get them on the Xbox store.

Guess I'll hang to my Pure/lego batman double pack then lol

How Pure didn't get another iteration I don't know. fun as hell

Thread has reminded me to hook my 360 up to boot up BF 1943 before the servers go down too.

Dark Souls also came as a digital code for those who bought Dark Souls 3 Day One edition (there might be copies still out there with slips yet)

I keep trying to buy Soul Calibur 1 but it's been delisted for a while, not sure if I would still need the disc had I bought it digitally before it was removed. :/

It was never available on disk, only as an XBLA title. Codes are still available on Amazon. I'd grab one now if you want it, they will eventually be gone. Make sure you redeem it on an Xbox console—360 codes don't redeem on the web store.

Is Grabbed by the Ghoulies only delisted in some regions? Literally just bought it on the old 360 Marketplace.

Thanks for this! Doom 3 got a port to modern consoles as well. Also worth noting the vast majority of these games are still digitally available on PC.

Weird. I'm basing this on the US store but it appears to still be purchasable in the US on the old 360 marketplace. Noted that; this also gives credence to the theory that those games were accidentally delisted.

Thanks! You're right, although you'd be surprised: A sizable number of these games are delisted on Steam and other marketplaces.

The 2 version of Grabbed by the Ghoulies are not the same. Original version is 4k 30 fps, Replay version is 60fps.

Overlord 2 was delisted?! Dammit. I was planning to buy that after finishing Overlord 1. In all fairness though, I started Overlord 1 in 2007 and still haven't finished it. I guess they gave me ample time…

It still baffles me that they never made Human Revolution Director's Cut available to purchase digitally. It's always been disc-only for whatever reason.

This listing says available now, hopefully that really is the case. I think this was the link I used to buy it after the delisting.

That worked, thanks! It's strange as I searched for it on Amazon, but it didn't show up in the search results.

I bought one from Dell a few weeks ago but it looks like they're now out of stock. Maybe you can find a German code or something?

Got it sorted, but thanks for the suggestion!

These don't need a disk to play if you already own them, right?
I can still play Forza Horizon 1 for example.
Or are you saying they can't be downloaded anymore?

Yes, if you bought them digitally when they were available, you can still play and redownload them. They'll show up in your library on your Xbox.

But if you haven't, you can't buy them digitally anymore.

The battlefield Bad company games don't seem to available for purchase anymore, but are included with EA Play for download and play still, not sure how long that will be the case though.

Nice to have a list.

Sonic is kind of a weird edge case. Those games are available on current Xbox but only as a bundle in the form of the Sonic Origins collection and none of them are the original roms (though the XBLA version of Sonic CD also isn't the original game technically speaking).

Btw for anyone curious that collection is in a way better place now than it was at launch. In fact it just got a meaty patch this morning! lol

Errr when did lost planet get delisted? I literally saw this one on sale a couple weeks ago. So it's happened very recently?

Thanks for the thread

I still need to find a disc copy of FEAR and the first Forza Horizon game

How is AC6?

I have 5 and 7 on PS4 but I don't know much about 6

All this sours my experience with Xboxs BC program, when I previously thought very highly of it. How can so many games like Splinter Cell just get delisted without warning? There's so many caveats to console BC programs it's crazy.

At least some of these can be played digitally if you already owned them before they were delisted.

For example, The Orange Box. It requires a disc if you don't own it digitally, but if you do, you can redownload and play.

I highly doubt Splinter Cell is Xbox's fault. It's probably a licensing thing with Ubisoft they are trying to work out (assuming it's not just a mistake). That's just the reality of the BC program; it requires third party participation. Even with the caveats and the examples of weirdness, I still think Xbox deserve credit for the amazing work they did with BC. 800 or whatever games BC is better than zero.

I forgot where exactly I read this but the footage Konami needed to renew license for didn't pan out because the companies holding those licenses no longer exist. They had to replace the footage in the new release so I don't think they'd go back to do the same for old version.

Just saw your note about italics. Should give those * note as it's hard to tell

Got most of the 360 disks in a box in the attic, just in case I pick up an X down the road. But then, fair chunk of the ones I own are on Gamepass anyway.

Digital games, have the ones I need already from purchases on the 360. Nice to not only play Origins, but have the XBLA version of Sonic 3 with the OG music just in case nostalgia hits.

Splinter cell vanished along with other games from different publishers on the same day, and this list of games is the entire batch of OG Xbox games released on BC in June 2019.

I think it's hardly something related to licensing or a specific publisher. Besides, these games are all still available on other storefronts.

If it was intentional, I would've assumed they'd announce that the games would become unavailable to buy so that people can quickly scoop them up before it's too late. It's just weird that it has been months, and these games were even supposed to be on sale when they were delisted. And still no word about what's going on.
