Netflix is producing a docuseries from Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson about charges of sex trafficking and racketeering as well as sexual assault and violent abuse allegations against Sean "Diddy" Combs. Alexandria Stapleton directs the project, which is currently in production.
"This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far," 50 Cent and Stapleton said in an exclusive statement to Variety. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives. While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs' story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture's broader contributions."
50 Cent first announced that G-Unit would be producing the docuseries in early December, at which point Combs had been sued by four different women, beginning with ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, whose lawsuit opened the floodgates against him, and with whom he quickly arrived at a settlement. At the time, 50 Cent shared a clip on X that showed Bad Boy Records rapper Mark Curry alleging that Combs would spike bottles of champagne at his parties before women drank from them. Proceeds from the documentary, the rapper-producer said, will be used to support sexual assault victims.

trolling is one thing but this is straight up grifting off of heinous crimes. kinda disgusting, fifty.
It's fucked up I agree but not really new for Netflix. They're giving Ryan Murphy hundreds of millions of dollars to glamorize and profit off Jeffrey Dahmer's victims' families and now the Menendez brothers. Also there's that Vince McMahon docuseries but apparently that one is actually good?

This is already the second docuseries announced about him. The people behind the Quiet on the Set series are doing one as well in collaboration with ID and Rolling Stone.

yeah the trailers for the dahmer and menendez ones really put me off. im not super familiar with ryan murphy but those two docs had a weird glamorizing vibe. i did not partake.

I'd call this more hating and spite than grifting. This man don't like Diddy.

if he pulls in dollars for himself, then its still grifting...whatever his feelings

It's both. The hatred and beef that 50 has for Diddy goes back decades to even before he got signed with Aftermath Records in the early 00s. He just finally found a way to benefit, but I don't doubt this genuine contempt for Diddy unlike many grifts.

If he knew about it he should have gone to the authorities beforehand.
Allegations, evidence, and proof are different things.

People have been trying to take Diddy down since the 90s and righfully so. R Kelly had a PDF sex tape watched by millions in the early 2000s and it still took 20 years for allegations to stick. For something to reach the Rico scale Im assuming there are orchestrated reasons why it took this long for everything to come out.

Also, bruh, people did go to the authorities. A lot. A netflix doc isnt anyones first choice for dealing with crazy shit like this. A doc is for our benefit as people who dont know all the details.

50 Cent is like the Dexter of rap. Where he's clearly a villain and a bad guy, but you can root for him because all of his targets are even worse people.

They even let R Kelly open the 2002 Winter Olympics WHILE the first rape trial was ongoing.
If you called the FBI in 2002 over "freak offs", they would have hung up.
Knowing someone is dirty is one thing, getting authorities interested and willing to dig deep, is a different story.
And even if they start an investigation, who wants to "snitch" on a sadistic billionaire you have witnessed getting away with murder in a NY Night Club.
I am 100% certain Diddy had his people on the police and DA office as well.

I think there are multiple reasons Diddy is finally going down:

- #metoo happened, this drastically changed the way society looks at sex predators, you can't just settle out of court and continue your career like Michael Jackson did
- Diddy's influence in culture was waning
- he got sloppier and more unhinged as time went on, meanwhile technology improved drastically
- Cassie wasn't just "some girl from the club", her lawsuit had enough weight to tip the scales

Overall, the Diddy case and all the ones that came before (the *steins, Masterson, Nickelodeon etc) are a pretty harsh indictment of 90s culture in general.
