Rest in Peace to the big guy. You made an impact that will last a lifetime. If y'all haven't checked it out GiantBomb Infinite has been great over the last few months its been around for reliving memories of Ryan with other people.

Also, i'd be remiss if I weren't to post the best ryan montage ever put together by one Drew Scanlon himself.

Loved how the dude had chemistry with basically anybody, the host of hosts.

Such a huge loss for the industry. He was incredible on the Bombcast. Really hit me hard when I heard the news.

While I understand why it happened, I am sad that his twitter account has been nuked. Every Hannukah, I loved to RT his "In light of the confusion between CHANNUKAH and HANNUKAH, I have decided to go with CHANNINGTATUM, so everyone wins" (probably messed that up from memory) tweet.
An absolute legend, he inspired me to get weight loss surgery and clean my life up a bit because it scared me that even if you "seem" fine, having all of those risk factors could do you in at any moment.
Miss you, dude

Me too. I saw the article Rorie wrote on the site and having just been married I figured it was some weird "haha your married now your life is over goof" that was going to end with wishing him well in his new adventures with his wife. And by the time I got halfway in It finally dawned on me that everything was real. :(

Every week I have been listening to the bombcast from that week 10 years ago and it is such a breath of fresh air from how good and funny that dude made the podcast. Fuck Ryan Davis, but man I love me some Ryan Davis.

I've never really followed GiantBomb but from everything I've heard this guy was great, but how on earth was it 5 years ago that he passed. Time passes so quickly before you can even realise it's happening.

Five years already? I remember it like yesterday that I saw the thread on GAF.

Maaaan this makes me feel old as fuck.

Honestly his death was a wakeup call that getting out of shape and eating myself into horrible health after my football career was over was a really awful idea. I saw all of his wife's posts after his death and just imagined my then GF going through it and got myself back to being healthy.

His death wrecked me to the point that I couldn't listen to or watch any Giant Bomb content for, like, two years.

Dude is severely missed. Giant Bomb (West) never really recovered from the passing of Ryan. Ryan just had so much great chemistry with the entire team.

RIP Ryan. TANG is still one of the best series GB has ever created.

On another note, do GB not do the thing where on the anniversary of his death they replace all the front page videos with Ryan ones? I liked that.

It's a shame GB hasn't found anyone with quite the same charisma as they really need it to counter Jeff's Eeyore. You can't replace their long friendship, obv.

Ryan was seriously my favorite gaming persona and I only really got to know him on GB. He is sorely missed.

Yea, a lot of the wit and heart of the bombcast left with him. Going even as far back as the Hotspot, the Gerstmann, Vinny, and Ryan Davis trinity was just so hard to top.

Crazy that it has been 5 years already. Still can't imagine how crazy that must have been for his wife. Being married like a day or whatever and then him passing. Can't even imagine.

Let his passing being a lesson to everyone. Don't drink breast milk.

RIP big guy. Him saying Brad had the memory of a goldfish because he kept making the same mistakes during the Breaking Brad Doom video made me laugh so hard.

God I miss him

He was the dopest.

The rant about the rest of the crew liking Die Hard 2 more than 3, which they're right to do, it's the better film, but his reaction, God damn.

Only 5 years?

I still remember where I was and exactly how I felt when I heard the news.

God, I still miss this guy immeasurably...

To this day, he's the only person that made it feel like I lost a deep and personal friend, despite having never met him.

He brought so much joy and happiness to everyone. He is missed dearly.

Thanks, Ryan.

I know this is gonna sound weird, but his death got me into Giant Bomb. I knew who he and the guys from GB were, but I never saw any of their content. When he passed, I listened to the podcast they did after his death and thought "this guys are so different to everyone on this industry" based on how honest and heart felt that podcast sounded. Since that day I've following Giant Bomb and loving every second of it, and at the same time, I've been watching old Ryan stuff on youtube. He was an absolute treasure from what I've seen.

RIP Ryan, you wonderful, beautiful bastard.
