Another one bites the dust. It's so weird to think that a couple weeks ago I was reading that stupid story about the dog eating the guy's heart in that show, and one of the people being interviewed was Schwahn.

These vines run deep in Hollywood. It's gonna take a long time to rip them all up.

In less than shocking news:
Fullscreen Media To Shutter Its SVOD Service
After an 18-month effort to make headway in the saturated streaming video marketplace, Fullscreen Media is shutting down its subscription video on demand service next year.

The demise of its $6-per-month SVOD service follows a decision in September to trim about 3% of Fullscreen's total staff of about 750. About 25 jobs would be lost as a result of the shutdown.

Fullscreen CEO George Strompolos said, in an email to staff, that millions had downloaded the app and "hundreds of thousands" had chosen to subscribe. But despite this momentum, the service will be shut down in the first quarter of 2018 so Fullscreen can devote resources to original production and branded video content.

Hitman is damn perfect for a TV series though. I'm excited about it. Much more than the third film at least.

Ken Burns' 'The Vietnam War' Averaged 6.7M Viewers, Reached 34M In Live + 7, For PBS
Ken Burns and Lynn Novick's documentary The Vietnam War averaged 6.7 million viewers across its 10 nights in Live + 7 Day stats, PBS announced Thursday morning. The epic doc enjoyed a reach of just under 34 million.

These ratings results mean The Vietnam War is the second-highest-rated Burns/Novick film of the past two decades, following The War in 2007, PBS boasted.

Burns' best-known documentary for PBS, The Civil War, aired nearly three decades ago. Looking back across two decades also excludes some other well-known Burns/Novick docs for public broadcasting, from the conversation.

The premiere episode, which was unveiled September 17, was PBS' best-performing telecast since the series finale of Downton Abbey on Masterpiece, and is the highest-streamed series opener in PBS history.

USA Network Picks Up 'American Rust' Drama Series
USA Network has given a straight-to-series order to drama American Rust, based on The Son author Philipp Meyer's book of the same, from The Son co-creators Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman, Universal Cable Productions, Platform One Media and producer Michael De Luca (The Social Network). Pineapple Express helmer David Gordon Green is attached to direct the initial episode and executive produce.

Written by McGreevy, Shipman and Meyer, who also teamed to develop together the TV series adaptation of Meyer's book The Son for AMC, American Rust is the story of a small Pennsylvania rust belt town, and the rise and fall of a crime-riddled community as seen through the eyes of a sheriff with a history of violence.

Handmaid's Tale Season 2 Set for April, Plus Other Hulu Premiere Dates
The acclaimed adaptation, which grabbed five Emmys for its freshman run, will return in the month of April with a season "shaped by Offred's pregnancy and her ongoing fight to free her future child from the dystopian horrors of Gilead," says the press release. "'Gilead is within you' is a favorite saying of Aunt Lydia. In Season 2, Offred and all our characters will fight against – or succumb to – this dark truth."
Hulu also set decidedly firmer dates for Season 3 of The Path (returning Wednesday, Jan. 17); the limited series The Looming Tower (based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book and premiering Wednesday, Feb. 28); and Season 1 of Hard Sun (arriving Wednesday, March 7 and starring Agyness Deyn and Jim Sturgess as two cops on different ends of the social and moral spectrum who must "learn to work together if they're going to survive until the end of the world").

Yeeeeees, finally a month for Handmaid's Tale S2! I got plenty of time to get through the last five episodes I got left of the first season. I'm loving that show, although it's real hard to watch.

Harvey is as much a lead as Mike. I think it's nice they may be working in a way for the couple to leave together rather than manufacture more drama between the two.

And it's not like leaving the show had stopped Jessica from showing up in nearly every episode.

Sure, he is also a lead. But the show is primarily built on the relationship between Mike and Harvey. Without Mike what would the show be? Just another lawyer show with Harvey taking on cases and managing his firm?

Jessica was always a supporting character, so her leaving didn't really effect that main premise of the show. She has had a few cameo appearances, but she definitely has not been a presence in the show nearly as much as she was before. You also have to consider that she is about to get a spin-off where she's the lead and that is a major reason she's still been around. There's no telling that Patrick would continue to reoccur. And Meghan definitely will not.

Harvey spent more time with Dule Hill's character this past season than with Mike. That relationship hasn't been at the forefront for quite a while.

The creator himself is the one suggesting departures aren't permanent.

The show is already way past its prime creatively anyway. Gina will reoccur even less (I assume) once she's headlining the spin-off. There has not been any additions to the main cast yet and by the end of this season there will be three of them gone, including one of the primary characters.

The show would need to make major changes to survive and even then it might no longer be the show people enjoy or want. I could see why USA would want to give it another year since it's their top show, but that speaks more to their overall weak lineup than any particular strengths that Suits has at the moment.

We'll see what happens. But I'm already getting deja vu from Scrubs. Do people really want a zombie season like that?

According to the cast on Twitter, the Sense8 finale is done filming! I'm surprised how quickly it came together given how long it took for season 2 to get off the ground. (on the other hand they probably only filmed in a few locations so the production would naturally have gone more smoothly)

II don't really see how much more 'material' there is without it turning into bullshit fanfiction like video games do.

Amazon did say they wanted their own Game of Thrones, after all!

It's probably closer to Cline's book Armada than Ready Player One. Crap book, the shows first episode is already better than that, hopefully it keeps it up. I'm a sucker for time travel though.

The first 5 minutes made me want to quit watching. Why do people who write TV shows know nothing about video games. lol
Also why is he playing a FPS with a flight stick????

Jean Dujardin and Luc Besson need money:
'The French Detective' Light Drama Starring Jean Dujardin From Luc Besson & James Patterson Set At ABC As Put Pilot
ABC has given a put pilot commitment to light drama The French Detective, based on James Patterson's Luc Moncrief mysteries, from EuropaCorp TV Studios, with The Artist's Jean Dujardin attached to star and EuropaCorp founder and Taken creator Luc Besson set to direct in his TV directorial debut.

Written by Assassin's Creed scribes Bill Collage and Adam Cooper, and Jonathan Collier (Bones), The French Detective is a light procedural drama that centers on Luc Moncrief, a Parisian detective who moves to New York and joins the NYPD in order to leave his previous life behind and start fresh. The sexy procedural follows Moncrief as he and his blue collar female partner solve New York's most complex and inscrutable crimes, while Luc simultaneously tries to keep his dark past from catching up to him.
I don't know what makes this procedural "sexy" and since Besson is involved I dread to find out.
Tuesday night's ratings. Pretty much business as usual:
It's a bit weird to see how close the total audience numbers for The Voice and This is Us are and yet there is a pretty big gulf in demo.

You're the Worst to end with final fifth season
FX will conclude its acclaimed comedy You're the Worst with a fifth and final season next year.

"Making You're The Worst has been an incredible experience and FX Networks have been dream partners," said creator Stephen Falk. "I am thankful to have the opportunity to be thoroughly judged whether or not we 'stick the landing' — which is a thing people say now that stupid Breaking Bad had to end so damn perfectly."*

FX also had a statement which made the decision to end the show sound like a totally mutual breakup. Since this is FX, that claim might even be true. "Stephen Falk has been an extraordinary creative partner to work with over the past four years, and it is in that spirit that we came to the mutual decision to end You're the Worst with its fifth season," said FX programing president Nick Grad. "Stephen's singular vision for the series has been its guiding force from the start and our decision, while difficult, will allow the series to end on its own terms and in a way most satisfying to its devoted fans. We want to thank Stephen, the cast and the crew for everything they've done to make You're the Worst one of the best comedies on TV."

Wednesday's timing of the announcement is also meant to draw some attention to the fact that season 4's final two episodes will air tonight on FXX.

Hey everyone,

After speaking with the admin team, I convinced them that this thread needed to be moved to the main Etcetera forum (rather than "Hangouts").

I watched the first episode of Futureman yesterday and it felt.. cheap? The writing is lazy and the humor is predictable.. I will give it two more episodes to hook me as pilots can sometimes be pretty shakey.. but I wasn't super impressed by the first episode on its own.

I really liked how they handled Gretchen's depression, but having the last two seasons end with Jimmy pushing forward with commitment to only immediately regret it has been tiring. Ending it is the right decision.

Patrick J. Adams expected to leave Suits along with Meghan Markle:
http://deadline.com/2017/11/suits-p...er-7-seasons-season-8-renewal-usa-1202207283/

I don't see how the show continues past this season losing its lead.

First of all, I had no idea this thread existed. Loved it at the other site and missed it when I came here. Secondly, had no idea that Gina Torres was getting her own spinoff. Will definitely give that a shot whenever it starts. As for Patrick and Meghan leaving, that's pretty much a wrap for my interest in the show. Mike and Harvey was the only relationship I cared about.

I'm fine with You're the Worst getting an ending. It's good that they can plan for it. It's still an enjoyable show, but frequently goes too far in 'Flanderizing' the characters.
