I have quite a few songs I really like but I can't really tell to what genre they belong to. Spotify didn't help too.

Generally, they are songs meant to express a specific sultry, sexy and dark mood, and often used in bar scenes in movies TV shows, but the ones I like are always a song a little different from the overall sound of the artist. I think it sounds a little bit old school too, with a nice heavy bass, guitars, and a heavy beat, and are often in minor key tones.

Also, please leave suggestions of bands/singers in this style, it would be much appreciated!

Boston
David Lynch Deathabilly

Did some digging for something like a down tempo psychobilly and I came across this which doesn't seem too far off, but nothing as dark as that badalamenti track (I love that one too):

Death jazz/dark ambient

Bohren & Der Club of Gore are a good example

Check out Barry Adamsons Oedipus Schmoedipus. I think you might like it.

(The Mackenzie song is from that album originally.)

Chris Isaak seems like too obvious of an answer but this song is amazing.

Maybe "Hot Freaks" by Guided By Voices too. The lo-fi production on this song has always made it sound like a bouncer slightly opening the door to a club for you but not letting you in and only being able to catch and hear a tiny bit of the band playing.

down tempo rockabilly punk

Black Slacks by The Accelerators is an example if you ever get to hear it. No longer in print, and not no youtube though..

I think it would best be described as New Wave and/or post-punk. Depeche Mode certainly is, at least.

As for recommendations, I've recently started listening to Love and Rockets again for the first time since I was a kid and I really like some of their stuff.

Thanks a lot for the recommendations, guys! A lot of new stuff I wasn't familiar with. I will certainly check them out.

I should have imagined that these songs could belong to different genres, but it will be a good start to look for some more good sultry music :)

If you want similar-ish sounds from more mainstream bands, then you could look at the likes of Soft Cell, Visage, Ultravox.

But again, these are like Depeche Mode, where they have a varied sound across their work.
