Blegh personality, Blegh design. Such a basic princess, feels like a soulless other-peach but with a star and in blue. Daisy and Pauline exude so much more style and differing attitudes and are good compliments to Peach.
thats funny considering shes the only one with an actual backstory... and its a pretty good /sad one at that
Yeah. I don't expect any Mario Land stuff to ever be referenced in the mainline platformers these days (as cool as it would be) but it'd be nice to see them pop up in the RPGs or the sports games (aside from Daisy, anyway).Oh yeah, I forgot about him. Galaxy and Partners in Time were his chances and he missed them
I don't think anybody was arguing that the game isn't successful from a sales and popularity standpoint. Hot take guy seems to feel that the game was unsuccessful in living up to the hype and that review scores and sales are a bad indicator of how good a game is and don't account for the myriad of factors that effect what people like in a game.
The whole game was kind of a failure in retrospect. Zero challenge, way too much repetition, some very ugly worlds (that forest world, yikes) and very bad boss fights. Controversial opinion, I know, but the game feels very over-rated to me. Control-wise it is the greatest 3D platformer however. Put that control scheme in a linear Mario game please.
Which actually minorly contributes to why I dont like her as well. I like Mario characters as colorful and cartoony personalities, not fan fiction esque characters with "deep lore". Rosalina is too subtle of a personality to mesh well with the other Mario characters for me. Mario and Peach will always be the standard for the "Vanilla" characters but somehow Rosalina is so much more plain to me.thats funny considering shes the only one with an actual backstory... and its a pretty good /sad one at that
The poster said that the game was a misfire and then people responded with "but it's popular" and "but it's rated highly" which aren't good arguments. Not that the poster made a good argument themselves. The concept of scores in general has been heavily criticized because they are very arbitrary and subjective. Different reviewers have different standards and their standards change from game to game and are influenced by lots of extraneous variables. Reviews are fine in themselves because you can read what the reviewer's experience was and what they felt and then determine for yourself how you feel about their review. Better reviews will have a lot of detail about the content of the games and issues experienced and keep subjectivity to minimum to leave it to the consumer to decide. What is a good indicator then? Unless you're trying to say that the only good indicator is ourselves.
Never mind that the whole point of a Metacritic score is to have a consensus of opinion.
Plus, the bolded seems a bit harsh on reviewers. The whole point of Metacritic scores is to have a consensus of opinions. And most reviews do go in-depth about what they like in the game.
I think they're rabbits just because of the game's overall lunar theme.I do wonder if there was a piece of lore missing seeing as they have the same eyes as Cappy.
He literally got carried by YoshiI wonder why no one ever says Mario has a great backstory considering all the shit he went through as a baby.
It's hard to say anything bad about the Broodals after Nintendo's recent freeze on new characters in Mario games. Going through the NSMB series, two Paper Marios, and 3D Land was brutal on that front.
(At least 3D World had those Sprixie things.)
More original Mario characters, please!
I'm guessing the koopalings didn't appear because their fight designs are so intrinsic to their character. To be fair the Koopalings have never been in a 3D Mario game. Always wanted to see them appear in a 3D game for once.
We need Nabbit back, he was great. Dissapointed his only real appearances since NSMBU were Mario Golf and Mario & Sonic.
