Exactly. It would mean Japanese games don't sell on Xbox. What? We don't even know how much it sold, it would be alarming if a game like Nier with no physical release isn't in the charts.

A game being critically acclaimed isn't always a guarantee for success.
There is nothing off topic about what I'm talking about, report the post if you think I'm doing that instead of acting like a mod please.Stop veering off topic. You know very well my comment wasn't referring to just this particular game..People always claim Xbox gamers don't play Japanese games so it is great to see Nier Automata picking up steam on the Xbox store as more Xbox fans try it out and hopefully, it actually does well enough to get more Japanese support, especially from the smaller devs.
There was no downplaying from my posts, you're seeing things that don't exists, a digital only game charting digitally on release shouldn't be surprising as OP was trying to paint it, that's all I was saying.Don't know why your trying to down play this so hard. I'm pretty sure that this port is doing better than expected for SquareEnix, and that is great.
Where did I say people shouldn't be happy exactly? We have these kind of threads for all sorts of games. Game has done well in the charts a year after release at full price and people are enjoying celebrating that. But fuck positivity right.
It has also been on those other platforms for about a year now so seeing it holding up well on the Xbox Store is actually quite remarkable. No, but it's also not a new release. Xbox users know it's a Platinum game that's already proven successful on other platforms.
I just picked it up on PC myself a couple weeks ago. Great game so far. I love how it switches between hack n slash and shooter.
Lol. Why am i not surprised, you always come into these Xbox threads with some sort of agenda. Xbox owners who just bought the game seem to be happy about it doing well on the store and you show up trying to downplay. Do you only ask for sales numbers when it relates to Xbox? There is nothing off topic about what I'm talking about, report the post if you think I'm doing that instead of acting like a mod please.
People claim smaller Japanese games don't do well on Xbox and not Xbox gamers aren't playing them, until we get numbers there really isn't much to talk about.

Again, I wasn't downplaying anything, some of you need to chill attacking everyone that is trying to argue.Lol. Everyone? It's mostly only you. Your previous post came off like you were downplaying and hence the replies. Anyways I think we've derailed a bit. If the game does well on Xbox then chances of seeing more games or even similar titles in the future are higher and that's the goal here so seeing it go higher up on the charts is a very good sign.Again, I wasn't downplaying anything, some of you need to chill attacking everyone that is trying to argue.

Well I think it is for a game that has been out for a year on other platforms. I believe it would have done even better had it released on Xbox one same day and date as the PC and PS4 versions.I don't think it's remarkable. I would expect the same if say Bayonetta 2 or Ni-Oh somehow released on the Xbox.
Not everybody buys every platform.
Sure, remind me which critically acclaimed digital only title on the size of Nier didn't chart during release week? You're so full of it. There is an obscene number of digital only games that never even come close to charting, let alone break the top 10 and surpass the heavy hitters.
...and this is a year old, $50 port that is a genre people think can't do well on Xbox, and are proven wrong.
It can't be that different for top selling PS4 games in US/UK. Maybe Dark Souls Remaster? Is Nier the only Japanese game out of 22 in that chart? That can't be right.

How it is weak? It's a one year plus port? That's pretty weak for a digital only release isn't it?
I'm also baffled it's not on sale on steam for the summer sale.
Wow so happy that its such a great success. It will be interesting to see where it will chart next npd. Ps4 version last year cracked top ten.
Then how did SoD2 chart?
Physical copies.
The fact that it's a late port and the usual "Japanese games don't really sale on xbox" is often accepted as truth.
It even managing in the top 10 is pretty impressive.
No one knows but knowing history it will be crapppiest version
I mean am I imagining something or was Monster Hunter World this successful as well?
Hopefully it gets to number one. It's the best 'new' game out for Xbox.
I liked the weirdness at first but Nier is not clicking for me now. Did any of you doubt Nier early on and then just "get it" later. I'm afraid to give up on the game because I almost gave up on Dark Souls 3 (my first Soulsbourne game) and only kept going back to it because of the hype. Eventually it clicked and Soulsbourne became one of my favorite group of games ever.
A lot of opinions from gamers I trust love this game. I don't get it yet. I'm might give it another hour before throwing in the towel.
If you ignore the Switch, Xbox consoles pretty much always have both the absolute best and absolute worst versions of games between them. It's a weird dynamic. lolNo one knows but knowing history it will be crapppiest version
Check Evilboris his posts in this thread. :)Pretty much heard nothing about it's HDR quality, but I'm imagining it's a half baked implementation.....
Anyone care to elaborate?
Great to see that stupid ass narrative debunked. I'm sure this game is selling fantastic on Xbox judging from the reviews it is getting on the store from players. I'm sure it's already making Square a profit and looks good for the future.
Good job, Phil.
Playstation fans have dealt with years of hearing about the insignificance of Japanese games, the insignificance of them affecting hardware sales, the insignificance of them adding to a diverse library. Miraculously now they're the most wanted thing (2017 lineup helped with that). I think XB fans can deal with a little bit of Karma.
It's not like there's no truth to it.
Hence the digital only release.
This chart in no way confirms otherwise.
Mods aren't some higher beings that know everything, we don't have any numbers for the game. And about you saying this chart doesn't confirm anything, an actual mod posted otherwise before he updated the title. I am not sure why certain people keep trying to downplay this topic.
Your post is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand, and to my post. Projecting insecurities about what "PlayStation fans" had to go through regarding Japaneae games and saying "Xbox fans can deal with Karma" is pure console war nonsense.
