Pokemon is the one I am most ambivalent about, but any of the Wii series games except for Sports is pretty much Nintendo at their worst. Wii Music, Wii Play, Wii Party....I mean, I get that they aren't targeted at me in any way, but I have no love for that side of Nintendo's first party development.

Nowadays, yeah. They pushed it for gamers with Gamecube but from DS onward it was aimed at casuals, because that was during the whole Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Brain Age phase.
Wait, casuals or non-gamers?

What do casuals play? Do non-gamers play no games at all? Or are they the same thing?

How does one qualify a gamer? Is it the devices they own, the amount they play a game or the amount of games they buy a year? Does it matter if they just play one game on their phone 16 hours a week? Does it matter what games they play?

I'm just trying to figure it out because you needed to own game consoles to play Animal Crossing up until last year.

I just can't get into Splatoon. I've had friends try to get me into it, I've played both for several hours and I just can't get into it. I can understand why others enjoy it, it's just not for me.

Fire Emblem killed Advance Wars, so that's worse. Star Fox is ok.
Nah, the "Wars" series basically killed itself due to various events basically killing its presence in Japan starting with Advance Wars. It became entirely western focused and then the western sales fell too with the two DS games. And this happened while Fire Emblem was going through Radiant Dawn and Shadow Dragon, so it didn't have anything to do with FE either aside from both being games from the same studio.

The lack of Japanese presence for the Advance War games likely made new developers uninterested in the brand too.

I loved Starfox MP on the N64 too much to be able to say it is mediocre. Pokemon however, makes no damn sense to me. Out honestly looks like the kind of game you would see in a Walmart bargain bin by a developer no one has ever heard of and somehow it's a massive IP

I didn't like it as much until I started using the roller. The lack of range on guns feels really weird to me.

That's only because Pokemon became a massive IP

I could understand not liking Mario but not when Kirby is at the opposite end of your spectrum

I've tried SOOOO hard to love him but can't. I love the art, the atmosphere, the characters, it's all good...but the gameplay. Just too generic. Reminds me the legendary starfy everytime I try (and likewise, starfy reminds me of why I find Kirby boring).

*shrugs*
Maybe someday.

Yes. I don't know what it is, but after playing Sin & Punsihment and Kid Icarus: Uprising, Star Fox feels like a slow-paced kiddy ride, compared to the adrenaline pumping roller-coasters of the former. If the series is to return in some fashion, then it needs a drastic overhaul to its gameplay, setting, and continuity because it's slow, choo-choo train gameplay doesn't really work today IMO.

Animal Crossing as a franchise just doesn't work for me on several levels. With every other Nintendo franchise I know I enjoyed at least one game. AC just feels very dull and unengaging and I don't play games that way.

Other than Yoshi's Island for the SNES I could care less for any Yoshi game. I really like Star Fox even the low point games like Star Fox Assault and Command.

Yeah, and at the same time that Advance Wars had this, FE also had the same with it's titles selling below the expectations in the wii/ds era and Awakening being the one saving the franchise from a hiatus.

Not sure how we define major series, but if Earthbound/Mother is considered one then it's my most indifferent series. I've played through beginnings and earthbound and was largely meh the whole way through. I will still buy and support the ports of these games in hopes we get mother 3 localized, but I don't enjoy playing the games.

Yes mother 3 is apparently the best and it's on my to do list, but after not enjoying earthbound I'm in no rush to play m3.
I played Earthbound and Mother 3 back to back for the first time 2 years ago and it was like reading two fantastic books that I will think fondly on for the rest of my life.

It was like a Spiritual Experience.

Nah, Star Fox is in the "decent" tier for me (I've only played Assault, though).

That honor goes to Fire Emblem!

Someone high up at Nintendo must really like the IP.

I hate how they keep pushing it with new games every few years while franchises like F-Zero and Earthbound sit and rot. Starfox 64 is basically the only good game in the series, and even then it's essentially a 2-hour long rail shooter.

I really hope Retro Studios doesn't end up getting chained to it. Give F-Zero or Eternal Darkness another chance to fail for once.

Is Mario party considered an individual intellectual property?

Because that game series can go away and I wouldn't notice.

I still like Star Fox... but I may just be holding onto my childhood memories of it.

I haven't cared much for Star Fox since N64 when it introduced me to the rumble pack. But I wouldn't say it's my least favorite.

I know they're great games but personally I never cared for the Fire Emblem series. I just don't like SRPG in general.

Probably. Mainly just because there's better in the genre and the series has had a large amount of missteps. Yoshi is a close second.

I feel like it is the one with the most wasted potential. I want Star Foxes, Kid Icarus Uprising. A totally crazy game that's driven by both good action and a fun plot.

Yoshi for me, I guess they sell really well that we get so many :p

Star Fox, more indifferent than anything, I greatly enjoyed Pilotwings Resorts and the SNES one, and if they are at least something like those, then it's more of not having tried enough SF. I do like the characters, but I think they take themselves too seriously. Multiplayer is fun in what I've tried. Guard was really fun; I think they needed a new IP for it though, a little more significant lore to be like FNaF or something.

I like the rest of major franchises, from Mario & Sonic to Wii Fit to Bayonetta to the fun toy that Wii Music was.

Yoshi however, no matter the rationale, simply no.

There's no new Mother and never going to be one because Itoi don't want a new one and he ended the trilogy. Since it's a copyright divided by him and Nintendo where he has more rights, it also helps it.

I'm another one with uninterested indifference to Kirby. Yoshi and Star Fox are still better than that. At least I liked a couple of Yoshi and Star Fox games.

Even Kirby's Epic Yarn had no challenge and no music, and that might be the Kirby game I dislike the least.

Gameplay-wise? Yeah, its StarFox

But if we include characters and the worlds I would say my least favorite is F-Zero

How can people dump on Star Fox & Kirby when Yoshi has one good game & spent the next 23 years trying to recreate it?

If Kid Icarus Uprising didn't exist... I would have said Kid Icarus. So my vote goes to Ice Climbers.

Star Fox has always been a mid tier franchise to me, it started with two great games and has been pretty average ever since. I would honestly put it above Yoshi and Animal Crossing.

Actually it's a pretty good one and IMO up until star fox zero had really good releases. I know many didn't but I loved the GameCube games and star fox 64 is a classic game. They just need to put care into the releases and support it the right way. Star fox zero was rushed and an almost cash in with it trying to take advantage of the Wii U controller. Looking forward to playing Starlink all the way through as Fox.

He's pretty low tier for me, even with his dinosaur game.
Starfox just feels like that little brother of a friend you have that always wants to hang out with your group.
