Btw, has anyone else noticed that like what feels like the majority of Stormtroopers you fight in the campaign seem to be women?
There are always a ton of female voices as you fight with death screams and "don't let her get away!" and stuff like that.

The new Heroes vs Villains is just a massive improvement over the old one without the regular troopers. But yeah, Rey is just a bit too strong in 1v1 encounters. I also had a lot of trouble finding a match of it yesterday, as most people seemingly have enough after 1 match.

I keep getting screwed out of my rewards. Sometimes I'll finish a match decide to exit so I can play another mode and then I'll get a "you lost connection to EA servers" message and any challenges I finished in the previous match won't be labeled as "completed".

Shit this does this to me every time. I didn't realize I wasn't finishing challenges because of this.

I also have been saving up my credit because I don't know the best way to spend them. I have 25k.Who are the best heros? Or should I get loot boxes?

Ok. my main complaints so far aren't even related to loot crates etc.

  • Why can\t we see our ping/connection meter?
  • Why are lens glare, motion blur, etc. exaggerated? I know DICE loves their effects, but in some instances, I literally CANNOT see a thing with reflections and shit all over the screen.
  • Objectives are weirdly marked, to the point that a lot of teammates don't know what to do, where to go, etc.
  • Retreating in Galactic Assault is a bitch. No arrows on where to go, you get either killed running, get caught up in some weird geometry problem with the level or something else.
  • Gunplay feels weird, like I'm not sure if my shots are registering? Maybe it's due to connection issues.
Regarding Hero prices, doubt it's really going to be a super big issue. I mean, people have decided it is a big problem, which the microtransactions, and predatory business practices are, but the overall cost of Heroes is fine. Vader is at 15K and I already got 15K credits just by playing. Rather, I meant, sucking. I never once approached the top three or even five in an entire match, have yet to earn a Hero in a match of Galactic Assault, and so on. Yet, I STILL got over 15K to buy Vader. I didn't though, since I'd be wasting credits. XD

Challenges are constant and don't need to be activated. Basically, anything you do adds to your Challenges progression and you get scraps, credits, etc. for it.

I really am torn on picking this up. On one hand it's Star Wars and I think the gameplay looks good, and I want every SW game to do well so we get more. On the other though, I just don't think this loot crate upgrade fiasco deserves to be rewarded. Truly a 1st world problem lol

It's not nearly as bad as people would have you think. Most people I know who are actually playing the game rather than just be outraged on the internet about it say that the loot box thing isn't even that bad.

I certainly haven't felt disadvantaged when playing online.

Maybe I've just got my Star Wars fan goggles on, but i'm actually really enjoying the campaign. Probably helps that I read the prequel novel too

Also, Wow! this looks amazing on Xbox One X!

See now this is why I was torn. I was sure I would enjoy it, without spending anything on the crates. However, I was certain that there would be times were I'd feel at a disadvantage to those who had "over" used them.

I really appreciate that, so thank you!

This is probably the most egregious use of loot crates I have seen and I still don't think it's as terrible as some have made it out to be. I do think they need to make some more adjustments though.

but you dont reward it if you dont buy them. I dont plan to buy any boxes. You get a free box every day, you get loot crates for different not very difficult tasks and you get Credits after every match. About 200-300. If you play fifa you also dont have to buy ultimate team packs. You can earn credits a buy them by playing matches. Does it take longer? yes but the main thing is to just play the game and have fun and not play to unlock stuff.

The only time I feel really disadvantaged is in HvsV with a full opposing squad of carded up guys.
Otherwise I'm alright.

Funny enough I didn't even notice you could craft the base level cards so I was using Iden without any cards while I had 1000+ scrap.

Sorry if I missed it earlier in the thread, but can anyone attest to the proliferation of cheating/cheaters on the PC multiplayer? I saw it mentioned that anticheat measures were as poor or worse than they were in Battlefront 1; and was just curious if anyone can personally attest to that? Really don't want to waste the money if this is going to be the case. Thanks in advance.

I finally got to a play a hero on galactic assault. Then the map adjusted and me and like 10 other people got trapped outside the barrier and all got killed.

I completely understand that and should I get it, I won't be buying any. It's just the cards have such good bonuses (In the beta, I'm assuming they're the same) that I wouldn't want to come across someone who has clearly bought theirs and stand no chance. I also get what you're saying with UT and again, I agree with you.

You even get credits every day from the solo arcade lol.
They have a cap on it though, Boogie was playing arcade and got hit with a 3 hour cooldown to earn more credits.

Definitely agree with this, on galactic assault the maps are so big that individual people with upgraded star cards make very little of a difference, and even in heroes vs villains there are some star cards which barely matter. But for example Rey's preorder bonus abilities are hell to play against, as that Mind Trick is simply too powerful to last that long.

Played a few matches today on Xbox One X with the HUD completely disabled. All I want to say is: wow. Do it. You need to experience this. It's glorious. Almost too immersive.

but thats the thing. The bonuses arent really that great. I think the only ones that are op right now are the starfighter cards. We will see what card combinations people come up with in a week or two that could make a good player even better. But at the end of the day he was a good player in the first place. Its not like they have double health + double damage cards.

Also you can make these special cards yourself with scrap metal. You dont even have to hope that you get lucky in loot crates. Just make them. To get to the best version you need the scrap Upgrade material which could get tricky later on because the costs go up after every upgrade but again the bonus is nothing like people try to make of it.

Anyone else unable to get a match? I get as far as selecting a class, but the players needed just goes up and down but never low enough to proceed.

My experience with DICE games is that nobody tends to be patient enough to actually wait for a game to fill up so as soon as people see they have to wait, they leave.

You know the cap wouldn't be so bad if it ONLY applied to Arcade Modes that were already completed and that you are repeating. The simple fact is that the current system is horrible since if you do more than 5 a day you are basically earning jack to unlock stuff. Just more drip-fed F2P currency traps. Come back tomorrow please!

The worst part is that you can't even back out once it gets that far, so people must be actually quitting the game if that's the case.

The problem with the loot crates isn't that it so much puts you at a disadvantage to other players (usually the matches are quick and hectic enough to not be annoyed by being killed by someone with strong cards. Only in Heroes vs Villains it can get very unbalanced, and in Galactic Assault they potentially score more battle points and have quicker access to upgrades. The main problem to me is that it kills the fun of unlocking things and working to something. I have no sense of progress here... Also, the whole system is way to convoluted.

The multiplayergameplay on itself is amazing though. I really love playing it, especially Galactic and Starfighter Assault. I liked BF2015 too, but this finds the sweet spot between simplicity and some depth.

The singleplayer, which I just finished, is a let-down to me. It looks great, but the action is often uninspired at best. I also found the story very disapointing.

There is no character arc whatsoever. Iden just flips to the Rebels in an instant and then we get the 'kill stormtroopers'-affair for the rest of the time. By having lots of levels where you play a movie hero, she also becomes an extra in her own story. Lots of scenes also squander their potential. The destruction of DSII? Glossed over in one sentence (grieve later, fight now!). The final confrontation with her father? "Oh Iden, I understand you know, all is forgiven. Please escape alive". I had expected some more depth in the story, being it canonical and all. But it jumps just from one mission to the next, without much connective tissue. Also, it would've been way more interesting if Iden stayed on the side of the Empire, trying to cope with defeat and doubts. That way she could also be one of the driving forces in the foundation of the First Order, which I had expected to be a plot point. In previews they told us the story would span 30 years between episode VII and VII. That is technically true, but only because they jump 30 years between the penultimate and final mission. I do hope the story DLC fleshes it all out more...

Yup, Rey is specifically one I was thinking of on a loaded squad

They are informed. I assume everyone here with the game is fully aware of the lootbox nonsense and made the informed decision to purchase knowing they don't care, or don't believe it will affect them; which is entirely reasonable. A number of the comments seem to be saying just that, the lootbox stuff has yet to make them feel at a disadvantage.

I have been playing on the One X and loving it, do not get me wrong but I hate the new X Box controller.
The sticks are terrible and floaty. (in my opinion).

the progression system definitely sounds grindy but I think Star Wars fans will appreciate the game a lot more...the game nails the feeling of being in the Star Wars universe...as one of the reviews I read stated--- "Battlefront 2 isn't trying to be a competitive game, it's trying to be a lighthearted Star Wars shooter, and it does that pretty well...that philosophy doesn't excuse the Star Card system by any means, but it's why I could still have fun in spite of it"

Oh lawd you mean people can think for themselves and NOT be part of the jackassery that has become of everything related to this game?
Let you in on a secret too, having a great time in the game. In honor of all of the outrage I even bought the $15 Starter Kit.
It has been GLORIOUS.
