"Shuntaro Furukawa is the new President of Nintendo Co., Ltd., after Tatsumi Kimishima officially stepped down at The 78th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in Kyoto earlier today."

Long live the 6th President, and thank you Mr. Kimishima for your short, sweet, strong, and excellent leadership. You did an excellent job during a troubled time, and would have made your predecessor proud. Mr. Furukawa has some big shoes to fill, but I have faith.

What will Furukawa's Nintendo be like?

NTODY has 52 week high of 58.45, and 52 week low of 38.13, right now at 39.93... Just FYI, no guarantee.

good luck to Furukawa. Not like that most of the things will change either way just like with Kimishima it was quite the same following Iwata's steps.

That new president smell. All the best to him, I hope Nintendo will continue to do weird things.

Ahh but who knows, maybe he'll just pivot the company into one big Golf Story project.

Welcome aboard, Furukara. Here's to hoping you can help with the continued success that Nintendo has been seeing lately.

If I am not mistaken, he seems like he wants to bolster Nintendo's unique strengths, even saying something along the lines of how Nintendo should should focus on making things only they can do. While this definitely gives me optimism, I hope Furukawa will not go too far just for the sake of being different (a trend that Nintendo follows all too closely). Either way, good luck Mr. Furukawa.

Apparently, he grew up with the NES and SNES, and helped get Golf Story on the eShop, or so I heard.
Oh wow, that's cool. High hopes!

Animal Crossing Switch is inevitable.

What I need to know is if President Shun is a PERSONA FAN.
Well...Persona would be nice on Switch indeed... But there's this rumour going around that Sony holds Persona hostage somehow (but I have never seen any facts supporting this rumour).

Crazy he's only the sixth in 130 years. Though by all rights they should still be on #4, except for tragedy.

Not necessarily...

Persona Q is on 3DS and Persona Q 2 is also coming to 3DS. Hopefully it hits Switch too.

Its complicated to explain Atlus, Persona and Sony. Lol

Kimishima looks pretty relieved in that image. Crazy that it has been nearly three years since Iwata passed. I was pretty unsure of Kimishima when it was announced he would be an interim president, but he has seen Nintendo through a lot over the past few years. I look forward to see how Furukawa's leadership shapes Nintendo.

Shuntaro has such a smug like face going on in the photo. Like he is slowly nodding his head saying to himself "Yeeeeeeaaaaaah".

edit:
I thought he was already president though?

Shun was slowly being worked into the role. Today was just the formal announcement that he's now officially the head of the company when in reality he was already fulfilling his role for months now.

Best of luck to him! Seems like a great person for the job.

Does anyone know what Kimishima will be doing next? Hope he is still rooted in Nintendo.

Loved Kimishima, was the kind of CEO I felt they needed.

Welcome Shuntaro Furukawa

Hope he brings in some much needed freshness. It's a new Era and can't wait to see where he takes them
