I have never played a Remedy game (incl Max Payne series), but this looked reaaaally good. Looking forward to seeing more about it.

Hubert (or was it Bosman?) calling it "Quantum Break 2nd chance edition" on the EZA stream made me chuckle I have to admit ;)

Pretty amusing reading the reception to this and the one qb got back then despite looking identical

I wasn't blown away by the first trailer, but it's Remedy so I'll definitely play it and give it a shot. Already has an advantage over QB because you won't be forced to sit and watch 20 minute low budget Nissan commercials. ;)
what a strange comment to make as you weren't forced to watch those in qb either.

This looks and sound very cool, very interested in this. Did they say if it's linear like Quantum Break or linear like God of War(with side quests and more open).

Played and enjoyed QB but, from the trailer, this looks like a better game :
gameplay felt smoother
no time lost on selling us a bullshitt story

Actually, the press release explicitly mentions a 'sandbox' environment.

This sandbox-style, gameplay-driven experience built on the proprietary Northlight engine challenges players to master a combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through the deep and mysterious worlds Remedy is known and loved for.

I think that is related to the combat, you have a sandbox of options to solve each encounter. Not that the game is a sandbox in relation to level structure. I remember reading it worded differently perhaps.

Is there footage yet or just the trailer? I think they said they'll be at some streams but I don't know if they happened yet or what they would feature.

You could like or hate the idea, but they were an integral part of the game and its story so yeah, you had to watch them if you didn't want to miss anything. It's just for me (and probably for many others) they were a huge miss from a game design perspective, they should have had some QTE's or interactive moments for additional choices and they were also bound to fail in a game like QB because of lack of proper budget to make them look cool.

Looks like a repurposed quantum break sequel. Hopefully they inject a bit more energy in to this, as I found qb a bit flat.

Not really. They were completely optional and didn't change the way the actual game played out or the actual story or the game.

I didn't like the TV show either but saying they were mandatory to watch is nonsense. You could have skipped them and it wouldn't have effected your enjoyment or understanding of the actual game.

I'm surprised this thread is giving so much love to Quantum Break, I liked it but it had some pretty significant issues the TV story actually took some things that could have been cool in gameplay (eg the Car chase with time control, that would have been very unique to play through), the terrible boss at the end, and I feel there wasn't enough exploration/change of pace in the game.

That being said I'm REALLY looking forward to this, probably my 3rd favorite game from the Sony Press briefing can't wait for some hands on impressions

Heard the Allies impressions about this game. At first glance i thought the game seemed to be very much a spirtual successor to Quantum Break, which i liked. But it seems to be a much weirder adventure than QB ever was. Hearing them talk about it i got Outer Limits vibes from it. I'm intrigued.

Dunno if posted yet, but there's a bit more of gameplay on this video and a really nice interview with the Narrative Lead Anna Megill.

Honestly my greatest surprise from this E3. It seems the game is quite far along, hopefully it releases early next year.

Really enjoyed Quantum Break so this is very exciting.
I also loved Psi-Ops.

With how strong the time power combat in Quantum Break became by the end of the game - I have absolute faith in Remedy to deliver with this.

I still maintain that every Remedy game secretly takes place in the same universe.

Love Remedy games. I hope they have smoothed out their gameplay a bit from QB. I loved it but there was a definite roughness and loseness to the controls to held it back.

More open level design, no TV-series, an interesting new-weird setting and more environmental interaction and destruction make it quite different than QB to me and we've only seen snippets.
A pleasant surprise, this.

I know it's almost forbidden to say lazy dev here, but... it seems like a short effort from remedy.

And let me elaborate on that. Northlight engine is beyond amazing (despite the low resolution reconstruction technique that clearly strikes the image quality heavily), but everything looks Quantum Break to me.

The color pallet, the effects, the "glass shattered effect", the skills, even the character movement.

I don't know where Remedy stands at this point without Microsoft, but coming from them I expected a lot more. Specially 2 years after the release of Quantum Break.

Remedy is well known for quality products and from a very distinct approach to narrative driven games. Was expecting something bigger.

Looks interesting enough, gives me inception vibes for some reason (I'd like to see someone take on that).

Remember thinking the following when I saw it at Sony's conference: "This looks like Quantum Break, Sheesh Sony are you really copyingcating the competition? That's kinda embarrising."

This engine has to be the most "Hey Im that engine" engines of this generation.

The materials, lighting, reflections, post effects even bullet trails look exactly like quantum break.

I want this game now!!!!

My one critic is the flight looks really really bad, like how lower budget movies make characters look like they are flying....those uncomfortable flight harness rigs.

If they used alot of MoCap on the game maybe they got the actress to actually be in one of these abominations.

Movies need to stop using these....I dont know what having the power of flight would look like, but it def wouldnt be based in your crotch.

Hi all,

thanks for all the discussion on our game. So glad we managed to keep things a secret.

We documented our travels, trials and tribulations regarding E3 into a "miniseries", which you might wanna check out here. Tried to keep it raw and dynamic and well, quirky too.

Playing through Quantum Break again so be interesting to see how this turns out honestly.

Enjoying it minus the odd choices in some control placements.

CONTROL was the most interesting game shown at E3 for me. But one question: Does CONTROL have an Antimemetics Division? ;)

That's great! Will check it out later. I know there's no realease date yet, but can you give us an estimate? 2019? Fall? Winter?

I really loved Quantum Break, and I still believe it's one the best time travelling stories in all of fiction. So, can I expect the same narrative quality in Control?

Keep up the good work!

The game's Steam page said April 2019 initially.

Control likely hasn't a big budget so it would probably look like an AA game if they made something super original. They are smart for re-using as much as they can to reach a visual quality people expect from Remedy

You better start fixing that right now. They have a charm and tightness that very few games have.
