SMH at one of the analysts saying Macherano had a good game. He conceded a penalty. Considering he's responsible for Nigeria's goal, it doesn't matter how well he defended otherwise, he had a bad game that nearly got them eliminated.

Also Banega is their best passing midfielder, they need him in their lineup every game to give them an added dimension.

I also can't believe it took until the 80th minute for Argentina's manager to bring in Aguero when they needed a goal. Is he not aware he's one of the best goal scorers in the world?

It's not just the English, you'd be surprised at how many football fans from plenty of counties think you're a shitty team of arrogant cunts who're trying to ride Messi's coat-tails for all their worth.
Argentina have political issues sure. But we don't have shitty team. We have players with talent. Like Aguiero, Dybala, DiMaria, Rojo etc. I would say we are better than most "carry teams" like Portugal, or Egypt etc. But the board is the problem.

It's ehhh.. getting there.. kind of. Rudy is out tomorrow since he got surgery, so I think Goretzka should start. Rumors that Hummels/Suele start at the back. If Loew moves Werner for Draxler and puts Gomez up front, that would be a team I would love to see how it would compete.

It's amazing how many things he's gotten wrong though ......

Maybe that's his good luck charm... I remember with horror how Jogi played Lahm in Midfield/Mustafi at RB up until the France game, he also started Götze over Klose at the beggining of the 2014 WC.

Fjandans, jæja takk fyrir okkur og gangi okkur betur næst. Áfram Ísland.

Oh well, better luck next time...we should have scored more, and if we would have played like that against Nigeria, we would at least have gotten a tie.

Seeing that Dybala and Icardi might as well not exist that is a clear no.

After watching that Nigeria pen again I'm even more convinced that this was never a penalty.

Not starting Banega in the first 2 games was criminal

He's the only Midfielder who can spot a pass

Switzerland/BRA are on 4 points, Serbia has 3.

The Swiss could take first place
- Brazil draw or loss
- by outscoring Brazil's total against Costa Rica

Not gonna lie, I can totally see BRA beating Serbia by "only" 1 goal while SUI beats up on Costa Rica.

That's a lot more realistic than Mexico losing to Sweden. Highly doubt that Sweden can play attacking football while preventing Mexican counterattacks.

Ah okay, so tomorrow i cheer for a Swiss onslaught :). I swear if somehow Mexico chokes and Germany ends up first while Brazil ends up second xD, then that match is meant to be

Yeah i read Rudy got surgery. Hopefully Goretzka plays. Question is who will play next to Kroos and Goretzka? Löw will mess that up xD

See. Drogba and Gary think it's a penalty...

The handball rule is a shitshow.

I really, really think they need to clarify it. For me, neither the Portugal handball nor the Argentina handball were penalties. But if one of them is, then they both are.

We hear all the time about the hand being in "an unnatural position," but that's not in the Law. In fact, it basically says the opposite:

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm. The following must be considered:
  • the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
Both the Portugal handball and the Argentina handball involved the ball toward the hand, not the hand towards the ball.
  • the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
Again, both, for me, were unexpected balls.
  • the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement
Again, we hear all the time about the "hand being in an unnatural position," but that's not in the Law. If they want to change the Law to include that, that's fine, but it's not in there at the moment.
  • touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.) is an infringement
  • hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) is an infringement
There needs to be a more consistent reading of the Law across all referees.

We're never getting past this shitty ass argentinian team. They'll beat us in the pens. They'll use their usual thuggish tactics and they'll manage to go through somehow.

What a horrible day. Africa ROBBED again

Can you stop with that continuous stupid negativity ?

Kante Pogba VS Mascherano, we may lose but being scared is just dumb now.

Also, Argentina, if you guys do not want Dybala or Icardi, preferably Icardi, you guys should send them to Germany ;D

His arms were in the air, thus it's a foul / penalty depends on the placement. If his arms were close to his body as they do when they stand like a wall in front of the foul, then it shouldn't be a penalty. This was a clear . And the referee seems to be an Argentina fan.

I wanted the Argentine to win but not like this .
His arms weren't in the air because he was trying to deflect the ball though, they were up because he was jumping so high and couldn't control them. If his arms were out wide and he was trying to block an opposition strike, then you'd have a much better case. It's all about intention.

Also if the ref was an Argentina fan, would he have giving the first penalty to Nigeria? That one was pretty questionable as well.

I don't like Argentina for 1998 and Germany for 1996, but just those reasons.

Same with Portugal in 2004 and 2006 tbh.

It's just football related. I like the actual countries.

It is nice France and Argentina will face each other. It means at least one boring team will go home.
