It was static in the past due to size limitations. I like it better this way, but for people who the backgrounds and flashing colors bother them when playing Lumines, this game is going to annoy the shit outa them. When Shake Ya Body started I nearly went blind. But I love it. It's all part of the Lumines experience.

It was static in the past due to developer time limitations, the staticness actually increased size and reduced quality dramatically, since the backgrounds used to be just FMV.

Loving the game so far, but man I am rusty. Going to take a few hours to get back into the groove of how to play this.

I've never played a Lumines game before and I'm thinking about getting this. I've watched a few videos and I think I roughly understand how it works (just make 2x2 blocks or more of the same color before the vertical line crosses them?) but is there a video or a write up of some of the more advanced details on how to play?

I have no problem with wild backgrounds. But when there's just some static 2D image in the background that shakes back and forth when I move the cursor, it looks awful and jarring.

Man, the percussive rumble on the Switch version is fucking cool as hell. Do the other versions have this too?

Had this preloaded for weeks on my Switch. Was able to validate during my lunch break and played for about 15 minutes. It's glorious. Haven't played the original in decade+.

The game itself has advanced tips on how to play.

Hmm I wonder if this will be a problem for my OLED LG tv :( I can't play The Witness because of burn-in from the puzzles. It goes away but I'm way too scared

Not trying to play this on a terrible excuse for a dpad, so PS4 or PC it is. Any PC port impressions?

This will tide me over nicely this summer until Tetris Effect, where I leave my family in the real world and use my PSVR as my new home.

Hopefully the loading issues will be resolved by patches in the upcoming weeks.

One issue I always had with Lumines was how tracks were locked behind progress and I never did git gud and so felt I was missing out on a lot of content. Is there a way to play everything without beating challenge mode etc? Or should I git gud?

Will be picking it up soon on Switch. I find puzzle games like Lumines and Puyo Tetris to work better on handhelds than on console or PC.

No. There are also skins locked behind some of the other modes.

How is the pc version? I really want to take the plunge. Lumines is such an amazing game, I've bought it on PSP, 360 and now this? :D

Lumines will make people into believers of HD Rumble. This game may be the best use of HD Rumble.

If you already have the 360 version with the dlc..why get this?

I think Shining isn't in the 360 version is it?

Clocked in about an hour with the PS4 version and loving it. Noticed a bit of studdering while navigating the menus and also my scores won't update on the leaderboard for some reason.

I've tried to get into this game a few times over the years but it never clicked.

Any videos to help me "get it"?

If you don't like it, you don't like it. It's kind of like Tetris or Puyo Puyo in that way. The gameplay is what it is, and if it doesn't click with you, and you don't like going hands on with that kind of gameplay loop, then that's perfectly fine.

Can anyone point out how many levels are in puzzle mode? I loved the main game but puzzle mode was always my main draw.

For those asking, there are no powerups to activate. You get whatever shows up while playing. Reached level 100 on my first playthrough and it unlocked Lights without even reaching 999,999 points. They've made unlocking the tracks easier this time around.
