Well I tried it. This kind of game still does nothing for me. I am mostly just bored. Not enough interactivity for me to keep me interested. I'd rather watch a movie.

I thought this was great. If they confirm Chris is the main character in LiS2 (and I'm sure he will be) and the theme remains the same (which it will) then I'll be there picking this up. The only question would be do I buy it day one or wait for it all to be released then play it over a weekend.

Why is this game so demanding on frame rate? At 4k, I can't maintain 60 fps on very high with a 1080 Ti. The graphics aren't that great for the hardware it demands, unless something is screwed up with my PC.
Are you just using the Very High Preset? If so, it has 133% Resolution Scaling, so you're actually rendering above 4K. Did you try setting that to 100% manually?

Has this been confirmed via leaks?

by leaks?no.
By rumors?yes.

Also interviews:
"When we were creating the story and the new characters, Captain Spirit/Chris was one of them. So we decided to create this demo/spin-off on Chris, so you'll find some links between each of the games (Life is Strange, Life is Strange 2, and Captain Spirit). If you play Captain Spirit, you'll see the consequences of your choices in Life is Strange 2. So they are linked together."

I'm not ready to see
whatever will become of Chris and his father because of the story I told the lady.

I only asked about leak because there were some leaked achievements, locations names and some other stuff which I was avoiding.
Cheers for the interview quote.

leaked achievements?this is weird, the game is out in 3 months.
but yeah no reasons to read those stuffs.

My guess is that is in LiS 2 because

he's the neighbor of the main protagonist

Thought this looked brilliant from the trailer. Do I need to have played LiS1? It's in my backlog...I know I need to get round to it but just haven't yet.

You dont need to have played any LiS, but there are about a few nods to LiS in the game. They are just words on paper, a name on a magazine. Nothing huge. Nothing story related, just little callbacks you'd notice if played in that order. If you play this first and LiS second, and pay close attention, you will get the same effect, but in the opposite direction. Callforwards?

In my opinion, the only problem playing this first, and LiS second, the that the "adventure" part of this game is evolved from LiS. Both game's play the same - you look at things in a room, and interact with them. But the interactions in this game feel more complex and varied, and the rooms are filled with more objects to interact with than LiS ever was. The environments in LiS might feel a bit empty in comparison when playing in the order you plan too.

Oof

I was not prepared for the onslaught of memories with the father. Damn you Life is Strange making me FEEL things. Rude tbh. ;)

I really enjoyed it. I loved Chris, I felt very protective of him, and he is just such a good kid. I also agree with the earlier comment that I wish the dad was just a drunk, and not physically abusive, or that it wasn't stated pretty plainly in the beginning.

I think my only real problem with it was I felt a bit bored? But it also took me until about episode 2 of Life is Strange to get into it. STILL HYPE THO.

Yes, I tried 100% rendering and still couldn't maintain 60 fps, even adjusting some settings to high wouldn't do it. I ended up selecting rendering at 80% with everything else max to achieve 60 fps. It's weird that the game is so demanding at 4k.

Putting my entire opinion behind spoilers to protect the innocent

I really did not like the After School Special feel of this, and it's made all the worse by the cloying main character. I really hope he isn't a big deal in the main game, or that this whole little side story isn't that big of a deal outside of establishing that these brothers maybe help people. I hope the people that were raking Detroit's shitty writing through the coals take a breather to take on this. This stuff would've been eye-rolling and obvious to someone Chris' age.

What I -did- like was the open, more sandbox-y nature of this. This probably won't work for every chapter or scene in a focused narrative, but it was nice to at least feel the illusion of not playing a standard issue linear A-->B adventure game of this style. I'd like to see this explored a little more, although I think they have to be careful with it.

How could you be bored with some of the "dream sequences"? They were great! :D

About the physical abuse, I can agree it wasn't necessary, but with or without physical abuse, I really appreciated that they made it very clear that he really does loves his son, and his son didn't want to leave him at all. It's easy to rely on the "drunk dad is bad guy" thing, but the way they approached it was very nuanced, and felt much more real.

the one to the right that looks like shark, it's in the middle to the right on the "awesome things to do" overview

Edit: Found it.

it's not that short,it's 2-3 hours long.
Yeah, I don't get the "it's short" criticism. Sure, you can mainline it and finish it fast, but isn't the entire appeal interacting with the world as much as possible?

Outside of the phone PIN, I had a lot on fun doing everything in Captain Spirit.

there are better games to play with your kids (depends on how old they are though)

I dunno... It could be pretty solid to play with your kids, I think. There's a ton of great imaginative stuff, and it also prompts discussion/learning moments about abuse, death, mourning, and personal privacy.

There's swearing in it, so YMMV, but using it as a teaching tool could be pretty alright provided the kids are mature enough to handle those kind of discussions of real-world problems.

So did they switch to Unreal Engine? I saw that logo and didn't remember seeing it on the other games. It also runs much better than BTS, with no stuttering at all on PC.

I got to the end credits without completing any of Chris' checklist. I'm glad I went back and did them all, because I missed a lot of content and backstory that way (I never even left the house). Those fantasy sequences were nifty; hope LiS2 has some more of those, or something similar.

Does completing certain action(s) trigger Chris' dad falling asleep? Or does it just happen automatically after a certain amount of time?

there's a timeline in the game,so i think it's after a certain amount of time.

Just finished it and I think I need to replay because I feel like I missed some stuff but, for me, this is one of the weaker episodes from the LiSU (are we using this acronym?). That isn't to say I disliked it at all, Chris is a very endearing character and the structure of the episode was interesting but I'm not sure I'd want a whole season playing as Chris which is what the end seemed to imply or am I wrong there? It feels like it simultaneously needed more fleshing out and yet is a set-up for a story that wouldn't be engaging over 5 episodes. I'm willing to let Dontnod surprise me though and I suspect this might have more resonance on a repeat playthrough after LiS2.

Played it this morning. It was okay. The characters were really good, the back story was good and it had a lot of charm. But the gameplay was kind of tedious.

Do we know if these characters will be the focus of Life is Strange 2? I've seen Captain Spirit with a $49.99 Canadian price tag, and seen this listed as a demo. Or is this the full Captain Spirit experience but the story will be referenced later?

Finished it last night and it was great. I'm noticing a theme here though:
dead parents and car accidents.
Anyhoo, I guess my only complaint is no trophies. But, that's a very small complaint. The music was stellar as usual for a DONTNOD game.

for the phone unlock code, how did people find it out legitimately?

not sure how i feel about the game tbh. it looked fantastic, but i really didn't like playing as a young child or the setting. i just really liked the school setting and a teenage character i guess.

Where was
the dad's phone unlock code? I tried 2005 from his basketball trophy and 072005 but no dice. Couldn't find it anywhere.

Also, what about the
garage keys
? That's another thing I couldn't find. I did find the
truck keys though, and tried using them.

I didn't find the treasure before
waking the dad up
either.

It's very likely that we will play as the brothers that were shown at the end of Captain Spirit (Sean and Daniel)
That would also make sense for the ending but I'm not sure how I'd feel about more than one playable character.

Same, I wanted more high school drama stuff. There's a lot more they could do there without it feeling samey.

Phone code spells HawtDawg on an alphanumeric keypad. I don't think it can be found anywhere in the game though.

Garage keys are on the wall by the door in the kitchen.

The legend for the treasure map is up in the treehouse if I remember right.
