MOD EDIT: Keep in mind there are elements of this article that are unreliable due to the sheer amount of inproper translations from Google Translate. Take the results with a grain of salt.

Update 2

Ok so I had my main translator look at the sentence in question.

It's not "Please trust us" regarding the games. It is

根本的なところを踏み外すわけがないと、信じていてください。
Please believe that there is no way that we will stray from the basic elements.

Original Post:

Some thoughts from Tsunekazu Ishihara from Famistu. It reads like they're receiving a little backlash from this:

"Among those who have tried the game, some may feel that it has changed. However, we have been continuously changing the formula of the games since our inception, and in the end the players have accepted those changes.

In that sense, this time we are doing the same, but that is part of the long tradition of Game Freak and the Pokémon series. We will not go wrong with the basics, so please, trust us.

Ishihara also explained why they went along with remaking Pokemon Yellow for Pokemon Let's GO Pikachu/Eevee and confirmed the games were created as a stepping stone for Pokemon GO players to play the core Pokemon RPG.

In Pokemon GO, you can take with you an associated Pokémon and walk with it, but if we return to its origin, we get to Yellow Pokémon. In Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! We wanted to expand this feature even more. Pikachu always follows Ash in the anime, while Eevee has become very popular because it can evolve in many different ways. And as I mentioned before , we want this to be the game that people go to play after Pokémon GO, since Pokémon Pokémon Red, Blue, Green and Yellow appear in Pokémon GO, so it seemed like a good decision. Based on these things, we decided that Yellow Pokémon would be the perfect choice.

I bolded the interesting sentence to me in this interview. He seems confident in this project and that's nice but I'm still not convinced until I see more. Do you trust Gamefreak on this?

I trust them to deliver on what they set out to do, but I still don't think this game is going to be for me. I'm ok with that though, since they made clear that a more typical Pokémon game is in development as well.

I don't mind change as long as it's for the better. I'll take Pokémon as it is also but change is welcomed.

I trust that GameFreak is going to rake in the cash with this game. But I also know this game isn't for me.

I know exactly what I'm getting with this game and that's fine. I see it as a nice side-dish, or appetizer for next year's game.

We've been getting a lot of that since the announcement. This game isn't for me so 2019 it is.

I trust them because they did say it's a stepping stone to get to the real core RPG, and it makes sense that it's different in certain ways. I also doubt it could ever sell more than the 2019 game so I am not worried about the future in general

The Danger Zone
If this is a stepping stone entry then those Go players are gonna be awfully shocked when the 2019 game has none of the mechanics from Lets Go.

Having pokemon actually inhabit the world is the only change they should keep.

I trust them, cause I liked Pokemon games that deviated from the formula (Colosseum, Gale of Darkness) or spin offs that went completely different ways (Conquest, Mystery Dungeon, Go).

I know these ones were developed by other dev teams, but what I mean to say that Pokémon can be good even if it isn't following the "traditional" formula.

I believe him, the only thing I dislike so far is that you can't fight wild Pokémon, everything else looks great.

2019 game is my preferred style, but knowing it's coming means there's no reason to be angry about Let's Go. Let's Go doesn't seem like it's filled to the brim with cutscenes, so I'm already expecting it to be more fun than the Generation 7 games were.

Seems like it'll do what it needs to and do well.

I realize om not the target and that's ok.

Even if this Pokemon game isn't what the "hardcore" fans want, the game next year most definitely will be so it's not like there's a reason for panic among the Pokemon community anyway. Not every game has to be for every audience.

Why would I ? Art looks terrible, it looks like a lazy remake with little to no ambitions.

Nothing shown has me even remotely excited for this title. If it was just a straight up Gen 1 remake I'd be fine with it.

I don't feel like they've earned that trust. With the info they've given so far like not being able to battle wild Pokemon, it doesn't entice me with confidence.

I'm not on the hate train for Let's Go, but I feel like they're attempting to simplify these games to aim at the Pokemon Go crowd, but Pokemon is already pretty simple as far as JRPG's go, and I think they might be going to far.

My expectations are lower for this title. I'm still excited for it, but I am looking at it as something to just hold me over until the 2019 release. I do trust that they want to make a good game, I mean, it's in their best interest, but I am worried they are watering down this title too much.

Question: how much control does Nintendo have over the Pokemon franchise direction vs Game Freak? Or, more accurate, who decided this direction for this game?

Not like I had any franchise loyalty up to this point, but I'll trust them. I'm still looking forward to the 2019 title more

I trust it'll be a good game that will sell lots that people will like that I'll continue to have no interest in. No biggie just keep it away from 8th gen and I'm cool

i see this as a isolated pokemon experience, as it seems that you wont be able to transfer your pokemon into the main series or even back to GO

i dont doubt that it will be great for what it is, but as this stands right now, there is not actually any need or motivation to jump in as part of my "pokemon adventure" XD

Nah I'm not trusting you on this one . Pokemon Let's Go simply comes off as Pokemon Go+ and Pokemon Go wasn't for me and this isn't for me either. I'm sure it'll sell like gang busters simply because of the name 'Pokemon' but that doesn't mean it's actually 'good'.

I'm still super excited for this game. 2 player Pokemon on console is something I've wanted for a long time.

Also I played the old games to death so I'm fine with the gameplay loop being different with the Go mechanics.

Atleast let us know if we can transfer Pokemon Let's Go to Pokemon to Pokémon Bank. If not atleast say it so I know I definitely ncan skip the game.

OP, could you please not post complete interviews from articles in the OP (even if they are short) in the future?

About the topic, I of course am willing to give them a chance when they themselves are taking chances. I'm pretty sure Let's Go will be a cool game and I'm not wary of the future of Pokémon or anything. That doesn't mean that I would like the changes themselves necessarily but if people like them then sure, I will gladly let them have what they want.

I'm more excited for Gen 8 next year, but I'm still on the fence on if I should get Let's Go or not. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

I just got a survey that asked about Let's Go and lasted like 15 minutes holy shit. They asked me if I wanted it to be more like a traditional Pokémon game or more like Pokémon Go and if I'm interested in buying it. Did you really needed to ask me 30 questions lol

How am I supposed to 'trust' them with Let's go when they've openly admitted that the real game is only coming next year?
