You didn't even address what Phil Spencer said trying to convince Capcom in early development to bring MHW to Xbox One. All you laser focused on was trying to say that "marketing deals doesn't mean exclusivity deals."
I already explained it, if you followed the conversation you'd know, Capcom wouldn't have released a west focused title on PS4 alone.

MH main titles have been exclusive to one platform until MHW.

Capcom was at a very bad financial position when they started developing SFV and Deep Down. They needed that Sony money. Things have changed now.

I even bolded it for you. If you can't infer why Phil Spencer would need to go to Japan to visit Capcom regarding MHW then there is no hope for you.

You read into it what you want, there is nothing in there that is saying Capcom planned it originally to be an exclusive.
The quote clearly says they signed a marketing agreement with Sony over the game and at a later date Spencer asked them to put the game on Xbox in spite of that.
So...what sort of increase can we expect for Splatoon 2 this week? Is expecting it to be over 50k too much? Also... what does the Japanese eShop top 30 look like atm?
You know what I mean. As in, devote resources towards a meaningful Monster Hunter for Switch. The MHXX port required little effort and made ony the most minor of impacts on Switch sales.
Not saying they won't. Just saying I wouldn't be surprised. Companies do things we consider baffling all the time.
Around 15k to be safe I guess, it should continue doing that for the rest of the year besides during holiday seasons.

It means the amount of people who bought the game during this week (including pre-orders)
each point is a sale/preorder if I remember correctly. also, don't use these number to extrapolate.

Idk. I'm a super optimistic when it comes to Splatoon 2. Plus the Octo Expansion launched earlier than expected right? So I just thought that its unexpected launch might have caught some folks that were waiting for the expansion before getting the game by surprise. 50k is too much I guess. 25k definitely seems possible to me.
the Octo Expansion released during the tracking period of last weeks data. i thought its effect on spla2n sales would have been seen last week, but i guess it could have even more of an effect this week considering that it was a shadow drop.
I find what Phil said to be yet one more confirmation of the initial MH rumor that certain people will fight to their last breath to downplay for their own reasons.
1. He wanted MHW for XB - yet got MHW only in the west (contrary to other games). Had there been no exclusivity deal anywhere, he would have gotten Asia as well.
2. Read carefully what he said: "I'm not trying go in and try to get them to help us win in Japan." - XB had no chance of winning in Japan. no matter what they do, so why would he say such a sentence? Remember that the rumor said Sony's motivation was to win Japan? What Phil is saying can be read as follows "I'm not trying go in and try to get them to help us win in Japan [as opposed to what Sony did]" ...
Which gives me even more hope that (since that was also part of the rumor) there is a MH portable as well in the works.

I still cant believe sony thought MHW would win them Japan back, then again back when it was just the WiiU maybe this would have been a turning point
I also think it was intended to be completely exclusive, as in no PC version either.
Which would make sense as this is the pretty much the only Capcom game this gen released on PS4 and Xbox One that didn't hit PC at the same time. For some reason, the PC port was always announced as coming later and then got delayed even further to fall just before the console launch and we haven't heard a peep since.
I'm sure people will start pointing out other delayed PC ports from Capcom this gen but whatever you get my point. Their major titles have all been on PC in a timely manner except this one

Won't Minecraft numbers be somewhat restricted by the fact hundreds of thousands of Japanese gamers already bought Minecrsft on Switch for the eShop version last year?
It's just hilarious to me. If all these games were coming to Xbox One no matter what why would Phil Spencer even make these trips to Japan in the first place?
The Xbox One is the promised land I suppose? And MH, the series that sold 4x in Japan than what it did in the rest of the world was a sure fire bet for the Xbox. Never a doubt.

It's more about Xbox One being so similar tech wise to PS4 that it really should get all multiplats that have even somewhat higher budget. You can pretty much lower resolution and call it a day. Both MHW and FFXV should be at least around a million on Xbox One globally and so easily covered the trivial porting costs.

So, Mario Tennis had the best start of the series (I doubt they are counting the N64 version though).
Gundam Breaker had good pre-orders but the start was a disappointment compared with past entries.
Minecraft showed a high level start.
Splatoon and Kingdom Hearts keep selling as the previous week.
I'm pretty sure the data from specialized store tend to inflate games for core gamers (mostly PS4), so something like Minecraft might actually be higher than it seems here. Maybe someone can confirm.
