User Banned (3 Days) : Promoting and linking to piracy methods.
Saw this on my Facebook. You just plug a dongle on the USB-C port, then you are able to play ROMs, the games are direct instaled to internal memory. It suports themes, apps like Netflix and emulators, via micro SD cards. There is no mod chips, and you can swap to the original OS any time. The price is like ~40 dollars.

Some screens:

Crazy thing. I hope Nintendo do something.

Edit: I removed the links. And a mod removed a pic with the link to the store.

Edit 2: Looks like it uses the SD slot, not the cart one, so the words flash cards on the title are incorrect.

Yeah it's been around for the past couple of days, you don't even need the dongle you just need to boot into RCM mode and use a USB-C cable to transfer stuff over.
Switch hacking has blown up a fuckton this year, getting piracy this early in it's life cycle is probably gonna fuck it up.

That's not a flashcart.

And this is what just got a ton of people banned.

Also why would you make a thread about this?

The brazillian market is pretty dire in terms of games so i wouldnt blame someone there for buying this if nintendo wont give them a legit way to do so

And it's always Nintendo products too. It just seems like hackers just WANT to screw over them the most.

It happened with the gameboy, gba, nds, 3ds, etc. Switch was inevitable. Nintendo weren't really able to do anything about flash carts for their previous portable consoles, I'm not expecting they will be able to do much about it on the Switch either besides ban people from online multiplayer.

We can discuss piracy, lol.

News is news, it's not the same as saying "btw I'm pirating games"

This isn't news, this was revealed months ago and its not a flashcart. The OP has no idea what a flashcart is if he thinks this is one.

Nintendo cant do anything without a hardware revision. I wonder what happened with that? I read a revision was in dev a while ago to stop this.

So it's old news with an incorrect OP but the gist of the message correct

Still telling a guy "close the thread if you value your account" is lol, let the mods do their job instead of him.

Not really. I'm not that surprised it's Nintendo and Brazil again.

Nintendo games prices here are absurd. That doesn't justify the practice, but it was probably a very strong factor in it. PS4 and Xbox games, while not cheap, are easier to find and with more adequate prices.

I think the Wii U was the same. A few months after Nintendo left Brazil and their prices went through the roof, I remember reading about piracy on the Wii U.

Bringing attention to piracy by specifically pointing it out and what it is should be against the rules. This is just dumb.

Yes it's a flash card. I made the topic because this is a forum about games, with lots of game industry people.

Some irony: The store says they are the "Official seller in Brazil". How can they even use the word "Official"?

Are consoles being bricked / banned for using this?

Yes. There was a banwave today, two days after this thing released.

It doesn't use the cart slot, it is by definition not a flashcart. This is a hardware slave dongle that compromises RCM in nVidia boot process.

It isn't against the rules though and you arent the staff. If you don't like a thread you don't have to post in it :/

Anyways, back on topic, I'm curious to see if they'll circumvent banning or if it'll even matter. What method did they use to do this? If it's all software side, can they potentially get blocked down the line?

"Console warring" as an attack for disliking piracy discussion... okay?

You cannot circumvent banning.

consoles getting banned get banned from online play or the games from this cart will just not work?

Online, digital games don't work either.

OR there are just more vulnerabilities available for particular systems. I'm sure that the people that find these exploits don't specifically target a system, that is just plain ridiculous lol.

Given the money that goes into support of getting the Switch cracked open wide as possible when other emulators and stuff actually are desperate in need of funding, no, I'd say there's this desire on Nintendo consoles that aren't there for others.

Will it make it more likely that they will bring a hardware revision soon?
Oh yeah for sure, but hardware revisions cost a lot of time and money. They take months of production time and considering that it's hardware fault from nvidia, Nintendo has to wait for them to fix it to implement it into the new revision. I'm sure Nintendo is looking to see how much money they COULD lose from this rather than fix it right away.

It's not a flash cart. It loads an OS via recovery mode.

And it's an official distributor of Xecutor products in Brazil.

Maybe because in Brazil Nintendo is really overpriced (like, 3 games for a minimum wage) and no sales/price cuts.

Oh i tought it used the cart slot. So it uses the SD one?

This uses several physical mods in order to compromise the RCM flaw in nVidia's bootloop, it then loads in a completely different OS that copies Nintendo's. It has to constantly be updated and is DRMed to hell.

A flashcart is a security flaw in the cart slot that believes a fake cart is a real cart and allows for trivial loading of games, no effort or through needed.

lol, or they're just the easiest to hack.

Without having to buy anything my buddy softmodded his 3ds to let him download games directly from the official Nintendo E-Shop because it doesn't actually verify that you own the game before you download it lol.
